"I swear if you do it one more time –"
Riley laughs, poking me in the side again.
"Wow. I-I can't even look at you right now," I say jokingly, turning away from her.
Riley whimpers, trying desperately to get me to look at her. But I continue to refuse.
Before I even know what's happening, she's sitting on my lap. She grabs my face, and suddenly I'm staring into her huge brown eyes, our faces mere inches apart.
"Look at me," she repeats for the twentieth time, and this time I don't object.
"I'm looking..."
"Good." She's beautiful, and I can't help it when my gaze flickers down to her lips.
The moment lasts a few seconds, deep brown eyes staring into icy blue. But her hands eventually drop from my cheeks, and she wraps her arms around my waist.
And the moment is gone. And I missed my chance.
