Chapter Two

"Sofia! Wake up! You have to pack!" Samara yelled in her daughter's bedroom.

Sofie groaned. "Where are we going?"

"You forgot?" Samara asked entering the room. "We are going up to the lake to visit some of our old friends."

"Oh," Sofie said and slipped out of bed and headed to the bathroom. She hopped in the shower and got ready. She pulled on a T-shirt and ripped white shorts and ran downstairs. She grabbed a nutrition bar and munched on it.

"Why don't you eat any of Daddy's yummy pancakes?" Her twelve year old sister, Sandra, asked.

"No time." Sofie answered and turned to her father. "I'm going to the mall with Mace today."

"Okay, when are you packing?" Steve asked as he flipped a pancake.

"Tonight. Oh, and we need to go to the dealership, my baby is finally ready." Sofie squealed happily.

"Why do you call it your baby? It's just a stupid car." Sandra mumbled.

"A stupid car? Oh no. It's my dream car that I can actually drive as of last week!" Sofie twirled and ran out the door. She ran across the street to her best friend, Macy's house. She knocked until Macy answered.

"What?!" Macy yelled. Sofie wiggled her eyebrows.

"Shopping time!" Sofia exclaimed.

Macy laughed, "Okay, hold on. Let me grab my keys and purse."

When she came out, they headed for Macy's car and turned up the radio as they pulled out of the driveway. They sang along to the songs blasting from the speakers. Macy turned it down. "So your going on vacation tomorrow, right?"

"Vacation." Sofie scoffed. "More like a boring reunion with some of my parents friends."

"At least you're going boating. My parents refuse to get a boat or even go on a decent vacation. It's like they refuse to have fun." Macy frowned.

Sofie laughed. "You don't get it. We are visiting some of my parent's friends that we lost touch with. It's been, like, six years since I saw them last. They had to sell their snowmobiles and so we never did any outings together since. It's going to be so boring." Sofie said glumly. "Apparently, they are moving into this town. AND my sister used to have a huge crush on one of their sons." Sofia chuckled.

"Nice. Well, maybe they can get married just like she married your back door neighbor when you were in Florida." Macy laughed and Sofia smiled. Mace sighed.

"Well, there's only one way to get your mind off of it. Shopping!" Macy yelled. "Where shall we go first?"

"Shall?" Sofie giggled. "The Summer Hut. I need a new swimsuit and sunglasses."

They walked in with their arms linked. Sofie tried on many sunglasses and decided on a pair of black, large frame less glasses. She glanced in the mirror and puckered her lips. "What do you think?"

"They look just like the ones you lost last week." Macy pointed out.

"No they don't! And I did not lose them, I just misplaced them." Sofia said, choosing her words carefully.

"Whateva!" Mace smiled. "I'm going into A & F. I'll meet you in there."

Sofie nodded and headed to the swimsuits. She grabbed all the bikinis she liked and headed to the dressing room. She tried on a floral pink suit, a striped orange suit, three plain white, purple, and black suits. None of them she liked and she put them back on the racks. She sighed and then her eyes landed on a turquoise bikini. She grabbed it and rushed back into the dressing room. She admired her reflection. It was strapless. The top wrapped around her and fit perfectly. It had little flowers and the bottoms had a single ruffle that looked adorable. She bought the suit and the glasses and ran to A & F to show Macy.

"Mace!" She yelled as she spotted her. "Look." She pulled the suit out of her bag and showed her friend.

"Cute!" Macy smiled. They window-shopped until Macy got a text from her mom. "Darn it! My mom's having people over so I have to help her clean."

They rode home, singing along to the radio again. As they entered Macy's driveway she said, "Well, I'll see you at practice tomorrow."

"Yeah, see you then." Sofie replied then sprinted to her house. It was time to pick up her baby. "DAD! LET'S GO!" She yelled.

"Okay, I'm coming." He said running down the steps. "Sofie, we are leaving for vacation early tomorrow morning. I realize you have diving practice so I bought a GPS for you so you can join us after that." He told her as they walked out the door.

"Whatever." Sofia said and jumped into the car.

They sat there in silence and when they reached the dealership. Sofie ran to the car that was now hers while her father signed paperwork and whatnot. Steve walked over to the yellow Jeep Wrangler and handed Sofie the keys. She kissed the wheel and put it in ignition. "See you at home, Daddy." She smiled and pulled out of the dealership and headed to her house. She tuned the radio to her favorite pop station and hummed happily.

I turned into the subdivision and saw the house down the street that was sold a couple weeks ago. Maybe that's where they are moving. Sofie thought. She pulled into her house and got out of the car. Steve pulled in shortly after. He handed her the GPS that he had already programmed. "Thanks," She mumbled and walked into the house to pack.

She threw T-shirts, tank-tops, shorts, her new bikini, two other suits, and some other necesities. She sighed and walked downstairs to eat dinner. "What's for dinner?"

"Chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas." Her mom answered, placing the potatoes on the table. They all sat down, prayed, and then ate until they were full.

"Well, I'm going to bed." Sofia announced and excused herself from the table. She walked up the steps to her room and plopped down on the bed hoping that she could sleep through the dreaded vacation. She slowly drifted to sleep.

Sofia's alarm went off and she jumped out of bed, into her diving suit and threw on a pair of shorts. She didn't bother with a shirt as she grabbed her swim bag and ran to get an energy bar. "Morning Mom, morning Dad." She said as she ran out the door.

"Sofie!" Her dad called holding out her keys. She ran back, grabbed them, then kissed him goodbye. She drove to the high school and ran to the girls locker room.

"Late again," Macy and Natalie giggled as Sofie rolled her eyes. They walked into the pool room and joined the rest of the swimmers.

"Glad you could join us, Sofia." The coach said. Sofie's cheeks flushed. The coach demonstrated two more dives and we practiced them. They were two simple moves and we would end up combining them next practice. Sofie jumped off the board and twirled in the air and felt the wonderful rush of gliding through the water. Sofie resurfaced and exited the pool as Coach gathered the team.

"Alright! I will see you all next week!" Coach said and sent the team off to the locker rooms.

"Sofia is totally going to get schooled at the dive off." Kassandra told her clones.

Sofie walked up to her, "Well then you better take notes if you want any chance of scoring higher than me." Sofia smirked and left. She hopped in the car and drove home.

"I'm home!" She yelled as she walked through the door. No one answered. They probably left already. Sofie thought as she showered and got ready to leave. As soon as she was ready, she called Macy to say goodbye.

"Have fun," Mace teased as Sofie pulled out of her driveway. Sofie rolled her eyes and waved. She set the GPS and was on her way. On the way to a boy who would flip her life upside down.
