Sophie groaned as she drove into the driveway of the old cottage. The smell of the musky woods and the clear lake water filled her nose. She grabbed her bag and locked her caar door and entered the cottage. "There she is!" Steve smiled and engulfed Sofie in an hug. Samara and Sandra were playing a card game on the ground and there was two younger boys, one Sandra's age and one a couple years younger, running around like crazy. Sandra rolled her brown eyes at them.
"Mommy?" Samara looked up. "I thought this was supposed to be a Sophie-free vacation."
"Hey!" Sophia yelled at her. She just smirked and Samara shook her head. Sophia glance at her father for help but he was making his way back to the chair he was sitting in next to some guy his age. The were talking about the latest sports gossip. Sophia rolled her eyes and walked into her room. She looked around and found a small black duffel bag on the ground next to one of the two single beds. She raised an eyebrow in confusion and threw her duffel onto the other single bed.
Sophia sat down and sighed. She glanced at the shut bathroom door when she heard a ruffling noise. Then, there was a phone that started ringing and someone answered it. "Hey, man, what up?"
There was mumbling coming from the caller and then the guy behind the door groaned. "It sucks, I'm supposed to be staying the whole fucking weekend with my lame little brothers and then my parents friends."
A laugh came from the caller and then more mumbling. "Yeah the move is gonna suck. I'm totally gonna miss Bri."
The door opened and Sophia found herself staring into the enchanting blue eyes of a boy her age. More muffled sounds came from the end of the line but the boy didn't answer. "Yo Nathan? Yeah I gotta go. I'll catch up with ya later." He hung up the phone without waiting for an answer.
She just sat there like an idiot, staring at him. He had handsome blue eyes, shaggy dark brown hair, and a built body. "Who the hell are you?" He asked.
And that's when she realized that this boy, was her best friend. She laughed. "When you call Nathan back tell him I say hi." Sophie said and grabbed her phone.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly confused. Sophie looked up at him with her round blue eyes. "Sophie?"
Sophie grinned, "Sup Gabby?"
Gabe narrowed his eyes at the girl. "Don't call me that." He said coldly.
Sophie shrugged and walked out. Gabe followed blindly. He walked over to his mom who was sitting on the couch reading a book. "You never said it was with her." Gabe said, jerking his thumb at Sophie.
Beth smiled, "Yeah I did. I said that it was Sophie, your friend from when you were little."
He sared at her blankly. "You never said that."
"Hmmm. Maybe I told Micael that." Beth shrugged and started reading again.
Sophie walked back into the bedroom and threw on her pajamas so she could go to bed. It was late, and she didn't want to think about all of this.
