This guy must be crazy, but what if he’s serious? You look at the amount of time that the call took. Exactly one minute. Enough time for the police to be able to be able to trace the call. Then you stop, they can’t trace the call unless it is actually happening. They cannot trace the call from a message. You can always call him back to confirm you will be there. You get back into your car and drive to the police station. You tell them what’s going on and they agree to help you. You call the number back, and the same voice answers. You tell him that you will meet him there, but you didn’t understand where it was. He repeats the address. By that time the cops have already traced the call.
At exactly 1:00 a.m. you and the police silently arrive at the warehouse. While you and some of the police are at the warehouse waiting for the man, the rest of the police are out in an old log cabin about an hour away. You step out into the back lot, and the police surround the building. At exactly 1:10 a.m. a tall man walks around the corner of the building and steps out in front of you. The gravel crunches behind you and you turn around to see three police men take down another man that was planning on attacking you from behind. The other man pulls out a gun, but is too late. Five more police tackle him and handcuff him. Both me are put into cars and taken to the station.
The chiefs phone rings. When he answers it, his frown turns to a large smile.
“They found Abbigail.” He says with pride.
“Oh thank God!” you shout.
“I want you to go home and get some rest now. We’ll do a psyche evaluation, feed her give her some water, all that good stuff. We’ll call you when we have ensured her stability, and you can take her home with you right away. Say, she’s your adopted daughter, right?”
“Yeah, my mom adopted her and told me that she was adopted under my name. So she was my child, the idea was to take my mind off of loosing dad. Also to help me cope with not having Fleck around while he was in jail.”
“Well, I’m glad we’ve finally found her. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Would you look at that, you found her! She’s safe! She’s finally going to be back in your care. You survived, and saved a life! I’m proud of you, I really am. You didn’t give up on her or yourself, and you made some really smart choices along the way. Great job.
