A/N I love Harry Styles also this pic is just ????? ya know
anyways enjoy :-)
I purchased the ticket. I can't believe I actually did it. After 3 years; consisting of 2 jobs double shifts and plenty of all nighters, I was able to do it.
It's official, I'm going to California. Stereotypical I know. Honestly I'm just ecstatic to have done something myself. I feel so accomplished. I've already mapped out where I'm going to stay and have a couple possible jobs lined up. I decided to go to Redding. It's close to Sacramento, which is perfect because whenever I need to go back home the airport is less than an hour away. Also not insanely far away from LA.
It's going to be so different. I mean I'm moving so in that sense it will definitely be a change but moving from Alaska to California is gonna take a while to get used to. I'm going to miss the cold weather but I'm sure I'll adjust to the heat. Yeah I'm an Alaskan who likes the cold, sue me.
After shutting my laptop I put it on my small desk and plug it in. I set my alarm for 6:00am like usual. Only tomorrow won't be any usual day at work. It'll be my last day. My second to last day in Alaska. For now at least, I'm definitely going to visit. This is my true home, I just need a permanent vacation for a while.
I get back in bed and tuck myself in under the covers. I send a quick text to my family group chat (yeah we're that family), telling them all goodnight and that I love them. I'll tell them about the ticket tomorrow.
I close my eyes and sigh deeply. Tomorrow's going to be very interesting.

Here goes everything. "So um I have something to tell you all, and before you jump to conclusion no, I'm not pregnant." I wait a minute for my family of 6 to quiet down. It usually takes a while for everyone to shut up.
There's 7 of us total including me. 2 parents and 5 kids. There's 3 girls and 2 boys. I'm blessed to be child number 4 who's at the ripe age of 19. I graduated high school last year and have been saving up to move to California.
"Well..? We don't have all day Sam." My younger brother Thomas says. "Anyways" I ignore my brothers comment. "as you all know I've been saving up for a ticket to California for quiet some time now... and yesterday after mapping everything out and looking at my bank account I finally purchased my ticket."
"Wow. Honey that's great. " My dad is the first to speak. "Yeah well it's taken a long time but I finally did it." I smile as the rest of my family starts to congratulate me.
"Wait you're leaving..? FINALLY! Oh dear God I never thought you would. What a time to be alive." Heather my 21 year old sister says to me.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. At least I'm actually moving out." I mumble that last part under my breath. Yet of course she still hears me.
"Honestly that one was just petty. I expect better coming from the "sarcastic Goddess" you always make yourself out to be." Well she has a point there.
"You know what you're right, I was just trying to spare your feelings and keep it simple. I know how hard it is for you to comprehend- shoot was that too big of a word for you? Let me try and dumb it down for you sweetie. It means-"
"I know what it means." My sister interrupts me and rolls her eyes.
"Daaaannnggg!!! You just got roasted. Tell me Heather, should I go get the ice now or do you wanna try and play if off like she didn't just blast you?" I high-five Thomas and we both crack up laughing at my sisters dismay.
"Okay that's enough. Sweetie I'm so happy for you. So great to see you going after your dreams. I know you're gonna do great there." My mom is literally the sweetest.
"Thanks... Momma I love you."
"P.O.P hold'em down!!" My other sister Kristen finishes for me. Everyone (minus my parents who are just starring confusedly) burst out laughing.
"Okay but let's be real for just a second. I'm seriously going to miss you all. Yeah even you Jack and Jill." My brother, James, and sister Jasmine are twins and we call them Jack and Jill. They just roll their eyes at my comment and counties to eat dinner while the rest of us chat away. James has always been the quiet one in the family. Which isn't really that quiet if you're comparing him to any other family... My family's definitely louder than you're average bunch. Jazzy is the louder of the two for sure.
My family is a complicated bunch but what can I say, we put the fun in dysFUNctional.
As soon as we pay for dinner we all take off back to those house. Except for Kristen, James, and Jasmine who all head off to their own apartments. God I'm gonna miss everyone so much. My family and I are all very close.

Once we're home I immediately start my packing. Oh my lanta I don't remember there being this much stuff in my room. I decide to make a checklist of everything I'll need, followed by a checklist of everything I want. Necessities come first after all.
Right as I finish making my list Heather barges in my room. She didn't even knock which is a little annoying but it's not too much of a bother. Honestly as much as I hate it, I know I'm going to miss it when I'm gone.
"Sooo how's packing going?" I sigh before replying. "I mean it's going.." Heather giggles at that. She's always been a bit more silly than me. It suits her though, she can get away with being a little more childish (compared to everyone else) now and again. If I were to act the way she does people would find me annoying.
"Well maybe you need some tunes to keep you going. Here let me see your speaker." I reluctantly hand her the speaker. We have the same taste in music for the most part but every now and then she plays something that I would categorize as trash.
I quickly regret my thoughts when she puts on 'PILLOWTALK' by Zayn Malik. God bless that man and his angelic voice, body, and personality. "Yesss this song is ridiculously good."
"I know Sammy why do you think I chose it?" She smiles coyly at me. She knows I hate it when she calls me Sammy. "I don't know, why do you think I chose a place so far away to live?"
"Huh?" Yeah not my best work. I'm not really 100% sure that came through as clearly as I intended it to.
"Never mind... So are you gonna help me pack or what?"
"I would but I don't want to. Have fun."
On that note she takes her phone (leaving me Zayn-less) and dashes out the door. I quickly plug in my phone and start playing 'All My Friends' by Snakehips. This song is the furthest thing from my reality. I don't have any friends that get drunk, I never get drunk and I for sure don't have some guys bed to crawl back to. But honestly I can't help but listen to it, it's just so dang catchy.Once I'm finished packing it's nearly 3am. Holy crap I'm so tired. My flight leaves tomorrow at 12am, the red eye was much cheaper than the regular flight. I'm definitely going to sleep in until 1pm, I swear.
I hop in bed and turn my lamp off. Turning off my brain is a whole 'nother story tho. I can't stop thinking. I don't wanna go, but I do wanna go. I don't want to leave my life that I've built here. I don't want to leave my friends. Most importantly I don't want to leave my family. They're my everything and not being within 15 minutes of all of them is going to kill me.
It's too late to change my mind now though. I've already bought a ticket and I'm going through with it. I'm not wasting all my hard work. I'm going through with this and that's final.
With that thought in mind I roll over and try again to sleep. Around 30 minutes later I blacked out.
