-- Friday Morning --
I woke up, a huge smile plastered on my face. Today was the day, the day we left for California, the day I continued to chase my dreams.
I put on my comfiest clothes, legging and a really loose and flows striped shirt. I ran down stairs with my bag careful not to trip...again.
My parents were already awake packing the car, so we could go. I felt so happy, almost as happy as a kid on Christmas morning. I felt a rumble in my stomach and wasn't sure weather I was hungry or nervous, either way I was up for the challenge. I walked into the pantry and stood there for a moment until my eyes laid in the pop tarts! I grabbed the box of cookie dough pop tarts and indulged. I was officially satisfied, but still had a weird feeling in my stomach, I was definitely nervous. That's normal though, considering the fact I was considered for a lead in a big shot movie. Soon enough I found myself sitting in a car for 6 hours.
-- 6 hours later --
We had officially arrived in California. I stepped out of the car and looked up at the towering hotel. A smile arrived on my face as well. I was actually in California for a movie callback. I grabbed my bag and followed my parents to our designated room.
Once we were all settled in, my mom and dad decided we should go exploring and just walk the streets for it was too early to eat dinner. On the other side of the bread, we didn't want to sit in the hotel room and do nothing 'cause we were just in a car 6 hours.
We walked around town and then we finally grew hungry. We stopped for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, because we all love that place, and it was the closest restaurant to our hotel. After dinner we walked to our hotel room and we did our usual Friday night FaceTime with Jake, my brother. You see, he was in collage up at Duke University.
Over time, my eyes became heavy and sleep overtook me with pleasant thoughts about tomorrow.
-- Saturday Morning --
"Hallie, Hallie, get up sweet girl"
I awoke to my moms voice. It was today...my callback... Was today!! I was overwhelmed with joy! I got ready and decided not. To wear my tank top outfit, but a chevron skater skirt with a black top. Simple yet cute! Plus the cholera were similar to my audition dress. My mom took me downstairs and we ate breakfast in a quick 15 minutes then left for the studio. That car ride there was on of stress and thoughts. How many people would be called back? How much competition do I have? Wigan will happen? Will I get the part? All these thoughts and questions swarmed my mind. As we got closer the butterflies kept coming and flying around like so. We arrived to the studio and I had a set expectation; hundreds of people called back, and lots of tough competition. I grabbed all my needed materials and stepped out of the car waiting for my mom, we walked into the building together. My mom's warm spirit was near calming my panicking nerves. I walked into the room surprised to see only 9 girls called back and 10 guys all of which were somewhat attractive. I didn't expect only 20 people called back, but was somewhat relieved knowing there want too much competition. I walked in with a smile on my face. "Hallie stark?""Yes, that's me!" I shot the person speaking a big smile.
We were all directed to seats while the director came in and spoke "congratulations everyone, you are being considered for major roles in 'spying is no crime' now, not all of you will be cast, but consider yourself lucky getting this far so give yourself a pat on the back! Now, over 500 people auditioned and you were the select few with grand potential. Now, today we will be going through a few scenes with the two main characters, Alex and Evan. Keep in mind were not just looking for your acting abilities, facing expressions, emotions, and actions, but also your chemistry with others. Every so often, we're going to make cuts, because we don't want to do three callbacks, but keep in mind if your cut that doesn't mean you didn't get in, sometimes we're just looking for other characters. So from all of us, break a leg! NowV each of you grab a side from pile 1, and then we will pair you up with another person have you practice, and then we'll run the scene in the green room with the cameras rolling."
I picked up the first side and read it through a couple of times. As I read I figured out this was an emotional scene with the guy counterpart. I began to feel really excited and not that nervous. After 10 minutes, we were beginning to be paired up.
"Hallie Stark you will be with Chris Eberhart."
I looked around and found him, he wasn't that attractive, but he seemed really nice. I walked over to him and we introduced ourselves.
"Hi! I'm Hallie Stark, which you probably got from what the guy just said haha!"
"H..h..hi, I..m Chris"
He seemed nervous, so I just offered a reassuring smile, which seemed to help a lot. "So, wanna run out lines so we're ready to film?"
"Umm, y..ea, actually that would be really great!"
Man I'm so happy he loosened up, I was getting worried.
After we ran the lines a few times, we had it down pretty well, but I didn't think we had the needed 'chemistry' I hoped this wouldn't blow it, but I just went in with it.
After 30 minutes. "Hallie and Chris, your up first."
Ugh first! Why first, I hate going first. I just smiled and grabbed Chris' hand as we walked into the room.
"Okay, so you two need to just act out this scene like you would perform it, and well record you and then that's that. Easy right?!" Said the director.
"Yep, I said cheerfully"
"3...2....1.... ACTION!"
"Eric, I just don't know what we can do"
"Alex, it's okay we'll figure this out. I have faith in you."
"Faith, yea your right we can find our way out together."
At this point we were supposed to look each other in the eyes and hug, but Chris was just staring at his paper. Oh no, whelp I understand he's probably nervous.
The scene lasted another 5 minutes, and we were done. I saw an interesting look on the directors face and became really scared. I hope I don't get cut. I also hope Chris doesn't. He was really cool and actually extremely talented once he warmed up to you.
We walked out and all the other groups eventually went leaving cuts as the last thing.
I became really nervous because as we were practicing with our partners so many other girls were just outstandingly talented and just looked like an actress as well as a movie star.
"Alright everyone, so this is first cuts. And don't get discouraged if you got cut, you still have a chance."
"Chris Eberhart
Jackie Louis
Sarah makay
Jackson grey
Brooke Leber
Dylan Zuban"A wave of relief went over me! I made it past first cuts! I wanted to jump up and down, but was put down when I saw all the girls left had some serious talent, and one in particular bugged me, Ryan Lockwood, she seemed so full of herself, but who am I to judge.
