Marcus stopped at my place and Winston and I had fallen asleep, I guess we had too much to drink.
"Alice, we're here" Marcus whispered trying to wake me.
I barely open my eyes and stretched.
"Thanks Marcus sorry if I troubled you with dropping me off" I said with just one eye open.
"no worries" Marcus smiled at me "it was lovely meeting you"
"you too" I smiled back getting down of the car, I turn around to check on Winston, he was sleeping like a kid after a long trip, legs pulled up to his chest resting his head on the car window, which made me smile.
"Goodnight Marcus" I said before closing the door.
"Goodnight"
-Next Morning-
I woke up with the worst hangover. even though I work in a bar but I never had a lot to drink, I'm literally THE worst drunk.
I sat up and stretched my arms real high and walked to my bathroom, I looked at my reflection and scared myself. my mascara had run down under my eyes making me look like I haven't had sleep in years. I washed my face, dried it and stood by the sink remembering last night and didnt notice a smile had snuck up on my face.
I tried not to overthink it and decided to have some breakfast, and before I opened my fridge a knock was on my door, it was Grace.
"hello neighbor" she smiled wide holding a plate of pancakes. I guess this was her way of apologizing for last night.
we sat on my kitchen table and I began stuffing my face with her insanely delicious pancakes.
"so what happened last night?" she asked curiously.
"nothing interesting" I shrugged taking another bite.
she gave me a look.
"ok we kissed " I said not making eye contact.
"you're kidding" she said in shock.
"yeah I mean, we may have had a few drinks before that happened but.."
"Alice" she interrupted
"what"
"think about it, the guy is in a band, is here for just a few weeks and is going on to the next city where a new chick is, isn't this all obvious? didnt you learn anything from movies?" she lectured me.
"he's a nice guy Grace, I don't think he's that type"
"well, I warned you so don't come crying to me when he leaves without a warning" she said one eyebrow raised.
I didn't say anything. But what if she's right, maybe last night was the last time seeing him and that magical night will be a story to tell my grandchildren.
I went to work and the place was crowded, there was a football match and every guy in the area was there to watch it.
I sat on a table since it wasnt my shift till 6 which left me with 3 hours, but I would rather spend them here than at home by myself which I usually didnt mind.
I saw Winston walk in along with Ted, he looked around as if he was looking for someone, his eyes caught me and I quickly turned my face away trying to look busy with the papers on the table.
"Hey there" he smiled wide pulling a chair.
"Hey" I smiled back.
"so last night was really fun" he said, and I didn't know if he meant the pre-drunk part as in the singing and talking or both along with the post-drunk part as in the kiss.
