'Nahh' I shoved my head under my pillow. The thunders were powerful enough to shake the windows and almost the walls as well. The darkness that filled the room made the temporary loneliness seem torturing. It's been years since the house has been so quiet. Constant parties, visits, noise and hangovers were never at bay in here. Except from today. Today I had to stay alone.

The torrential rain was manically falling on the roof as the lightenings were the only light that sneeked in to cover up the power cut. Thunders were no.2 in my personal list of "Phobias". How unlucky of me to have to deal with it alone and in total dark. Tree branches were whipping across my bedroom window making the scenery slightly more terrifying. The general coolness I have as a person turns into ashes to moments like this.

I should have gone with Lauren. Maybe in another stupid fraternity party I wouldn't pay attention to the thunders. But I was so sick of those parties. The same scenario again and again. Alcohol, passing out, sex and drugs. Each one to his own "field". Nothing new. Nothing special. I was proud that my only "real flaw" was smoking. It's not the best thing to be an active member of these kind of parties, the habits become more caustic. I had the tendency to just grab a drink and sit in a corner smokins while I was waiting for my best friend who was giving it all on the dancefloor.

Lauren was certainly the center of attention. All eyes were admiring the blonde, gorgeous girl who was moving like a pro. I was admiring her as well sometimes. She was never even getting tired. Living with her was a total challenge. A challenge I could never take because of my brother, Oliver. A recent, unfortunate accident forced us to live all together in my house. Even though Oliver's house was a luxurious mansion he was made to live with us for a couple of months due to a sudden of unknown source flood which almost destroyed half of the house. My house wasn't big. It was huge though for the two people who were meant to stay here in the first place. I didn't have the best of relationship with my brother but he was the only family I was left with.

My thoughts were interrupted by a sound on the bottom floor of the house. I payed some more attention to the click I just heard. It wasn't a key. It wasn't a familiar sound. It couldn't be Lauren. Oli was on a business trip to Europe so it couldn't be him either. I pushed the blanket off me and grabbed the first thing I could find. That was an empty, forgotten beer bottle. I held it so tight in my hands that my knuckles were turning white. I silently opened the door and stepped out of my room checking right and left. The moonlight was shortly disbanding the darkness but it wasn't enough to give me clear vision. I stared at the bottom of the stairs that looked endless until I build the courage to teke the first step down. Then another and another until I reached the bottom floor. I took a careful look around. Silence and absence. Another thunder made me almost jump in fear. I tried to catch my breath when I noticed the door...was not closed.

Before I even start elaborating my panic, a hand shut my mouth making the bottle fall of my hands and smash on the floor next to my bare feet. I tried to scream, to react but it was useless. The force that was keeping me trapped pushed me against the wall. My eyes came into contact with another pair. Brown. One hand never leaving my mouth as the other kept both of mine behind my back, on the wall. His wet hair were dripping water on my face while I was fighting to breathe over the stranger's hand.

"Don't move and I won't hurt you" his heavy voice warned before he pushed the door with his foot.

My heart felt like it was being ripped out of my chest when the door closed shut leaving me and the black-dressed stranger trapped inside the house. This is bad. This is very bad!
