To My Classmates Who Can Always Manage to Laugh

I already expected college to be hard. After all, it's the last stage of being a student.

The boss level, as gamers would call it.

But when I was a freshman, it didn't sink in at first, that I am already a college student, one step closer to my future, four years away from being independent.

But now, in my second year, that's when I absorbed it all.

And now, I wouldn't call college "hard". More like..... bloody. Testing.

Everything about you will be tested. Your patience, especially when you're already running late but the printing shop is full, but you have to pass an assignment so you fall in line grudgingly.

Your character, because you will encounter people who think they have the solution for everything, who think everything they say is absolutely right, probably forgetting that they are just students like you.

Your punctuality, because just when you need to be early at school, traffic will not cooperate with you. And of course, your professor will not accept it as a valid excuse, saying that you're the one who should adjust to the traffic (Admit it, they're right).

Your stamina, especially if you are unfortunate enough to experience ROTC.

Your budgeting skills, because 70% of your money is sure to be spent on academic-related things.

Your diet as well, because the remaining 30% will only satisfy 30% of your hunger. But when you have lots of money, you'll find yourself stuffing your mouth with "comfort food" for all the stress you're experiencing.

Your multitasking and time management skills too, because you will learn to divide time for school work and extra curricular activities and chores and friends and rest (meaning surfing the net, watching tv, reading Wattpad or sleeping) and leisure and love life (optional). So most probably while taking a bath you're charging your phone, while reciting the infos you need to memorize for the pop quiz later. And while dressing up you are shoving your breakfast down and fussing over your bag making sure you have all you need, but you always end up leaving behind something important.

And last but not least your acting skills.

Yes, your acting skills.

You'll need that when you interact with people who annoy the heck out of you, but you have to be nice to them because you're working on a project together and you don't want your negative feelings affect your grades. Or if you have to be nice to a professor who emits the blackest aura.

With all those things acknowledged, one might say that college classes are no fun, that all the students think of is how to get a good grade, or how to get that hot chick or dude they've been dreaming of, or how they could buy that hoverboard or outfit, or shoes, or book they've been pining for (you see, it depends on the person's priorities).

But not our class.

Our class' motto is probably "When the cat's away, the mice will play" or for accuracy, "When the prof's away the class will play."

Because when the professor leaves, or is absent, everyone turns to their group of friends and starts chatting away, and altogether makes a sound comparable to that of a market.

Even when there are lots of assignments and projects and reports all piled up, no one worries about it until they get home. Because at school, everybody is not wasting any time to be with their friends, because at home it's a date with the computer/laptop, notes/books. At home, MS Word, MS Powerpoint and (of course, don't forget) Google and Wiki are your friends.

So for my classmate who abuses the prof who gave the class a pile of work for a few laughs, well... thanks? The means might not be noble but the intent is good, you just wanted to make us laugh.

For the classmate who always throws hilarious punchlines, thanks. You helped a lot bro, believe me.

For the classmate who always say, "We can do it!", thanks. Even if some might disagree, at the end you have a right to brag, because we did do it, because we're all in this together.

For the classmate who always suggest impossible ideas, next time keep it to yourself. xD

And for the others, whatever their role is, thanks for managing to laugh at the jokes, for remaining bright and bubbly even if we have no reason to be.

You guys helped me keep my sanity.

Sincerely,
Your Classmate Who Feels Lucky For Belonging In You Class
