3/7 Hey everyone. First off, Happy New Year! I haven't seen you since November. (Sorry...) I would like to say a huge thank you for all the "update!" comments I've been getting. I'm glad so many of you want me to keep going.
That being said, I'd like to sincerely apologize for the extremely long break I've taken with this story. There's really no reason it's taken me this long to continue it, the only really being motivation. Motivation and I have a really weird relationship where I would have random spurts to actually continue this, but if I didn't do it when it happened, I would lose it and have to wait until it happened again, which obviously isn't until now.
So, since it's been a few months, I'll try to make this chapter good, so the wait's worthwhile.
PS- I'm going to give Reader a name because I'm realizing that it's (for some reason) getting harder to write without one. So, Reader/your/her name will be Annalise -- nickname An. I may go back through the story and add it in, but for now it's gonna start in this chapter.
Now, on with this (quite aptly titled) chapter!

Once I'm out of my parent's view, I stop for a second and contemplate whether I'm actually going to go check on Ben or try to find the Four. I decide to actually go find Mal and the others.
I go around the corner, and conveniently, everyone I'm looking for is there (and some others that I could care less seeing), even Ben. Evie and Carlos are sitting on one side of a picnic table and Jay's sitting on the table, and Mal's sitting opposite them. I go sit at the other table, in the free spot next to Lonnie. Ben is talking to the Four and I can tell he has on a super fake smile. I'm surprised he's not crying after what just happened. Lord knows I would be.
"... after the coronation, I promise everything will be okay," he finishes by talking into Mal's hair (super cute) "I have to go." I have a feeling that that means he's having troubles keeping the tears in. I know for a fact that he wouldn't leave with that short of a spiel to them.
After a little bit, Doug then walks toward their table, "Listen, Evie, I wanna talk about earlier today. I just..."
"Doug!" Chad suddenly cuts him off. He looks back, and gives him a 'what?' expression.
Evie tries to continue the conversation, "It's my fault, Doug. I'm sorry. "
"No, it's mine."
"Doug!"
"What?" I don't think I've ever seen Doug this upset. He's usually a pretty easy-going guy, even if people are annoying him. But I guess if I were in his shoes, I'd be pretty mad at Chad too.
"Doug..." Evie continues.
"Sorry, I can't," He turns to sit at the table, defeated, "okay."
Cant? I think. What is he talking about? Chad must be taking over again. I roll my eyes and stand up.
I begin to stand up and walk over to the Four. "Hey guys."
"Annalise." Chad tries to stop me.
"Can it, Charming. You may be able to walk over other people, but you can't me." I say, looking at him. That shuts him up. With that, I take a seat by Mal. All four look at me stunned.
"Are you sure you're not a villain kid in disguise?" Mal whispers to me.
"Nope, 100% good offspring here....well, maybe not 100%. I just don't let seriously narcissistic people like Chad control me." This makes them all chuckle a little.
But the moment was short-lived. Audrey and Jane then come up to us.
"How long does she think that's going to last? Mal is just the 'bad girl' infatuation." Audrey says.
"Yeah. I mean, he's never going to make a villain a queen." Geez, I guess that hair gave Jane more than confidence. She's turned into Audrey's mini-me.
I notice Mal open her spell book. Oh, this is going to be good. "Beware, forswear, undo Jane's hair." And just like that she's back to her bob. I chuckle to myself because she totally deserved it, however Audrey laughs audibly, stifling it, but not even trying to hide it. That of course freaks out all the other girls, including Lonnie, who actually stands up in fear.
"Ew." Chad says, in disgust.
All the girls look at Mal horrified, Jane the most. "There's a lot more where that came from."
"Excuse me, who do you think you are?" Audrey sasses, a smirk on her face.
"Do I look like I'm kidding?" Audrey's smile fades as Mal rummages through her spell book to do the hair de-spell on someone else. This causes them all the scamper away.
"Well, on that note I'm going to go find Ben. Don't feel bad about this, okay? It's not your fault at all. It's the older generations who hate change and judge everybody that's not like them. Just don't blame yourselves." I nod at them and walk away, towards the dorms.
I arrive at Ben's door and it's slightly cracked. I can hear small sniffles from the other side. I proceed with caution as I near the door.
I knock lightly, "Ben?"
"Go away." he says coldly. However, I continue opening the door and walk in. He's laying crossways on his bed so his head hangs off one side.
I'm sure he doesn't want to see anyone right now, but with what my dad just said to me I think we could both use someone to talk to right now.
"It's An." He sits up, and gives me a sad smile.
"Hey. Sorry, I thought you'd be...well, basically anyone else."
I chuckle a little. "Well, I figured that you needed someone to talk to, and I had a feeling that no one else would come see you, considering everything that just happened."
"Yeah...I really messed up, didn't I?"
"What? No, don't say that. This is in no way your fault."
"You heard what my father said. It is my fault. What just happened happened because it was my bright idea to bring those four over here."
"Those four?? Do you even hear yourself? Where's the Ben I knew? The one that was elated that his father was him more princely responsibility. The one that invited 'those four' over here cause he wanted to give the second generation a chance. The on that is in love with Mal. What happened to him?"
"He's gone, Annalise. How am I supposed to believe in them and myself if my father can't even do that?"
I pull him into a hug, and squeeze him tight. "Because I do, and having just one person believe in you is more powerful than a thousand that don't," I release him and look him in the eyes, "now compose yourself and clean yourself up. I'm going to go find Mal and the others. Take as long as you need."
I walk out the door and make it half way down the hallway before, "An?" I turn around and see Ben standing in the doorway, "thanks for coming to talk to me."
"What are friends for?"
He smiles at me and heads back into his room. I head down the stairs and out the dormitory.

Thanks again for requesting me to update and thus encouraging me to finally keep writing this story. Probably no updates the rest of this week, but I have spring break next week, so I'll update as much as I can if I don't go anywhere.
