Chapter 1: Hi, I'm Melony

Hi. I'm Melony Homes. Before I jump into my whole life story, we need to get one thing straight: I'm not. Yup. That's right. I'm a lesbian. Now one may be asking oneself, "WTF is going on, who is this crazy bitch? Where did my pants go?" But do not worry, as all will be answered in due time. For now, we shall begin my long tale where all great stories begin: at the dinner table. Cue flashback.

Glenns Falls, NY. 7 months ago.

"Mom, Dad, there's something I need to tell you." I say.

"You can tell us anything, dear." My dad replies.

Here goes nothing. I think to myself. "Mom, Dad, I'm gay."

"That's great honey." My mom says.

"I understand if you're mad or you ha- wait. What."

"Honestly Mel, you thought we hadn't figured this out? I mean really, have the decency to clear your search history every once in awhile." My dad jokes.

I blush feverishly. How did they figure it out? When did they figure it out? Did Blake tell them? Blake must have told them! I think. "BLAAAAAAAKE!" I scream, even though he's sitting right next to me.

"What! It wasn't me! I swear!" My twin brother, Blake, demands.

"Truth be told, we figured it out a week before your 16th birthday. We've just been waiting for you to be comfortable telling us on your own." My mother reassures me.

Wait a second. I think. My 16th birthday was last month, which means... I do the math in my head.

"You've known since April, and you never thought to confront me about it? Think of all the stress you could have saved me!"

"Mel, we're therapists, what do you expect from us?" My dad asks as he gets up to clear the table and do the dishes.

"I-I... I don't know." I reply tiredly whilst I proceed to yawn.

"Anyway, it's time for bed. Good night." My mom says, giving both me and Blake a kiss on the forehead.

"Good night." I reply as I roll my way to my bedroom. Oh yeah, did I mention I'm in a wheelchair?
