I stayed the rest of the day inside my room. Milo left a few minutes after Elena arrived. They had a huge fight downstairs and I don't like how it's my fault they were fighting. He's been calling me for about an hour now. I don't bother picking up.
He's probably going to tell me I'm a bad kisser anyways. Like Tim's brother did before he broke up with me. Except Milo will probably say we can't be friends anymore.
Staying in my room, is not going to take away my problems, but it can delay them for a while.
What was I thinking?
My eyes water and I bury my head against my pillow. I really like him. I honestly do. But I need to finish this for Elena.
There's a knock against the door and Elena walks in the room. "You know, if you didn't want me to sign you up you could've just said so."
I stay quiet for a while. "I did," I tell her. "You kept saying it would be good for me."
"Yeah, and I almost got you raped."
I flinch at the word. "Don't say it like that. It's Christmas."
She smiles. "Sorry," she says lightly, taking a seat on my bed. "So what was it that happened with Milo? I thought I heard you guys... kissed?"
I groan. "That is so embarrassing."
"You didn't like it?"
I look at her. "Yes. And that's the problem. I can't go out with guys every other day and have a crush on Milo at the same time."
The look on her face. Excitement with something else. "Really?:"
Nodding slowly, I raise an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
"How long have you liked him?" she asks, moving closer.
I shrug. "I don't know. But I need time from him. He's making me all confused all the time." I know what she's doing. She's probably recording this conversation right now. Which would make me mad except I don't care if she tells him because I already did. "I have to get ready," I say. "Mike will be here in two hours."
She scoffs. "You don't need to hours to get ready."
"But it will help me avoid this conversation."
She rolls her eyes. "Fine, you can avoid this conversation for now but we will talk about this later. And Wes will probably be here by the time you get back. We're going to sit down and pick a date for the wedding."
I've always loved getting dressed up. It's my favorite part in whole getting ready process. I mean, I love putting on makeup and doing my hair but I absolutely adore getting dressed. I pick a not-so-wintery dress that stays at midthigh length. I grab a gray cardigan with matching socks and put it on. Then I find some cream boots. I head into the bathroom and pull my hair into a French braid and finally begin applying some makeup.
I have one hour left until Mike arrives. I plop back down on my bed and begin watching A Christmas Kiss on Netflix. I was at the part where The girl finds out she kissed her boss's fiancé when Elena walks back in the room.
"Prince Gorgeous just arrived from Hottvile," she sings.
I look at her. "Really? Is he cute?"
She shrugs. "Not as cute as Milo but he's definitely a hottie."
I frown. "I thought we were avoiding this conversation until later."
She laughs. "We are, I just couldn't resist."
I roll my eyes before grabbing my purse and heading downstairs. I spot Mike standing by the door, a slightly disgusted look on his face. When he sees me though, he smiles. Oh, yeah, I think to myself. He is definitely a hottie.
"You must be Jennie?" he asks and I nod.
Over his shoulder, I spot Milo's car in the driveway and frown. Why is he here again? I thought I scared him off with the whole running inside thing. But he steps out of the car and smiles at me before gently pulling me aside. "We have to talk," he says, the smile wiping off his face.
I give him a pleading look. "Can it please wait until later? I'm about to leave."
He crosses his arms over his chest. "You like him, don't you?"
I smack his arm. "I just met him. I think he's cute."
"Great," he sneers. "I'll be here when you get back."
I nod, looking over at Mike, who was watching us with a frown. "Look, I have to go."
He steps aside and I walk over to where Mike was standing. "Is everything okay?" Mike asks, opening my door for me.
"Everything is lovely," I tell him.
He nods. "Good. I hope a restaurant and a walk through the park is okay?"
"You don't happen to have your cats with you?"
He grimaces. "Gross. Do you know many germs those little walking flee bags carry?"
My jaw slightly drops and I stare at him for a while. "So you're..." A germaphobe?
He shrugs. "I promised my niece I wouldn't be too much of a pain tonight. And I am begging you not to bring up cats or dogs or anything that can immediately get you sick with a cold or the flu unless you are wanting to know how to clean something."
Although he said it firmly, I see that his eyes are pleading.
I give him a small kiss on the cheek before getting inside the car. At least he's cute, I think to myself.
