"A shooting range?"
I bite my lip and stare at the large red letters that read 'Bullseye's, shooting range and firearm store.' I had never shot a gun before, I've only ever watched my dad shoot, he said he would teach me when I was older, but unfortunately fate stole him from me before he had the chance.
"I figured in a zombie apocalypse we might need some sort of defense." Thomas shrugs.
"We-we can't just to in and take one can we?" I gulp.
Thomas almost chokes laughing
"Oh yeah i'll just go ahead and pay someone who works there,
OH WAIT, they're all zombies!!" He says sarcastically.
Thomas walks up to the door and opens it slowly, as the door made a squeaking noise I have to cover my mouth not to scream. He looks back at me and gives a teasing smile. I draw in a sharp breath and let it out slowly before following.
"You can wait in the car if your to nervous." Thomas says with a slight teasing tone, but I can hear the sincerity and worry in his voice, being alone again was the last thing either of us want.
"What? And miss out on you peeing your pants? Not a chance." I tease.
He smiles gratefully and continues. Once we get behind the counter he immediately picks up a rifle and loads it. When he realizes I haven't moved he smiles.
"You don't know how to shoot a gun do you?"
I sigh and raise my hands up in surrender, "well congrats, you figured out my big secret."
He's about it respond when we hear a crash come from the back of the store. Thomas looks at me and nods, then he raises the gun.
In comes bald, blank eyed zombie from a door towards the back.
"BAM." The gun shot is so loud it surprises me and I fall backward. Blood splatters upward as my ears ring.
Thomas turns around and laughs when he sees me on the ground. He reaches out a hand and helps me up. I stare at the dead body. Something shoots up my spine. I sigh.
"You ok?" Thomas asks.
"Shouldn't I be asking that to you? You just shot a zombie." I raised my eyebrows
He laughs. "Yeah, but I didn't fall on my ass."
We both laugh for a moment before Thomas's eyes widen.
"LEXIS DUCK!" He screams.
I immediately hit the floor and cover my head. The gun blasts over my head and hits a short fat zombie behind me. Blood spatters all over my back and I start cursing loudly.
"God damn it! God damn it!" My temper rises at myself for not being more aware until I look up and see Thomas wiping moisture from his eyes, he offers his hand again and I take it.
"You ok?" He asks again.
"Yeah just shaken, how bout you?" I say remember the little drop of water he wiped from his cheek.
"Yeah I'm fine, all I did was fire the shit." He says with a sharp draw of breath.
"Where did the damn thing come from?" I grit my teeth. My blood boiling again.
"The office behind you, I'm sorry I should have checked." He sighs.
We both just stand and look each other for a while before he says grabs a hand gun and says, "come on, lets get you a new shirt, then I teach you how to shoot."
