Heir to the Court
Chapter 2: Breaking Out
Dick Grayson POV
Part 2

I was woken up in the middle of the night. Bruce was at my bed side. I looked at him with a groan.
"What is it now?"
"Look. I went to the Asylum and they gave me the security footage. She knows your identity Dick."
I narrowed my eyes. "You caught me in my lies. She doesn't know about you guys. Just me I made sure of it."
Bruce snapped. "She can figure it out. She's not that stupid!!!"
"I don't care Bruce!!!! She hasn't figured it out. I was cautious. You haven't seen her like I have."
"She's a killer Richard. You broke her and Ivy out of Arkham. You made a big mistake." He shoved me and I snapped pinning him to the wall. "Get out of here. Don't come back."
"I was just about too. I don't belong here. You can go to hell." I put my suit on over my clothing and grabbed my Escrima's and mask leaping from the window. I grappled to the rooftop and fell to my knees holding back tears. I felt someone's presence watching me. I looked up to see a shadow standing a few feet from me. I stood and kept my eyes on him.
"Good evening Richard Grayson. I have been lookin for you for a long time." The man spoke.
"Wh.... Who are you?" I questioned as to how the man knew my identity.
"None of concern.. Yet." He handed me small device and a gray owl feather. "You have a choice to make. I'll tell you everything if you meet with me tomorrow night. The Court of Owls needs you to be who you meant to be. Who you should be. Choose wisely, grandson." He took a step back and vanished into the night. I questioned and looked down at the two objects in my hand. I wonder what this meant. He called me his... grandson. I kept thinking to myself as I headed home to Blüdhaven.

I stayed awake the rest of the night when I got home. Harley wasn't there for some reason so I just hung out alone in the dark living room. I frowned and realized what I had to try to do. I'll need Jason's help for sure which was a problem since he irritates me. I called him up and told him to show up in the morning. Harley showed the next day. She knocked on the door before entering my place. I didn't expect her to be here since Jason was showing up. My brother came in through the window and spotted Harley sitting next to me. His eye narrowed and pulled out one of the guns.
"So.. I see who the problem is now. Harley...." Jason's voice held a rude tone to it. I stood and grabbed his wrist that was holding the gun.
"You will leave her alone."
"You really have feelings for this killer. Very funny." He mocked.
"Please Jason... Just don't try anything."
"I heard you were kicked out. Now I know why. I hate to say this but it's real quiet their now and I kinda miss you big brother. How about I just tell Bruce she's dead. He never knows when I lie since I became so good at it." Jason suggested.
"But.... What do I do?" Harley looked at the both of us.
"New identity. New look. Get rid of the voice. You know. Become a new person." Jason glared at her. "Dick. Come with me back to the manor. We have a father to make up with."
I frowned and nodded. Harley kissed my cheek and I slightly smiled standing up. I grabbed the device and owl feather putting it in my pocket. I hope Bruce can help me with this. I don't know who this is. It's kind of scaring me.

After the two hour drive back to Gotham, we ended up at the manor. The two if us walked in and headed straight to the batcave. Bruce was on his computer still his brooding self.
"Bruce...." I spoke up and he turned to face me.
"What?" His tone was a bit rude.
"I...." I didn't know what to say to him.
"I killed Harley. She's out of the picture." Jason cut in with a smirk on his face. Bruce seemed shocked.
"You killed her?"
Jason nodded and put his weapons on the table.
"You didn't have to do that."
"Yes. I did!! I did it for Damian and this family. You and Dick fighting like five year olds over this clown bitch has pissed me off. I wiped her out of the picture for good." He walked away to the manor and took his helmet off.
I crossed my arms and looked down.
Bruce put his hand on my shoulder.
"Dick.. Is this true?" I nodded and frowned.
"He killed her and I took off."
Bruce sighed and pulled me in for a hug. I froze but hugged him back.
"I need your help...." I pulled away and handed him the owl feather. I kept the device to myself for now. I noticed he froze.
"The Court of Owls. Who gave you this?" He walked over the computer and scanned it.
"I don't know. He did say I was his grandson. I didn't know I had a family relative still alive." I handed him the device after I walked over. "He also gave me this to contact him."
Bruce looked at it and took it gently from my hand. "Are you going to do it?" I shrugged not really knowing what to do. "Dick. You're old enough to do what you choose. I would say you should do it. Gain Intel and report back."
I thought about it for a moment. He had a point. "I should. I'll do it tonight."
Bruce nodded. "Alright." He put the feather and device in my hand before getting up. He walked out of the batcave to the manor. I followed and strolled off to my room. Laying in my bed I chose to get some sleep before night comes.
I really don't know what to expect when I see this man again. I'm scared of who might see.
