Dylan slung an arm around my neck and pulled me closer to him. He was always like another brother to me. I don't know what I'd do without him and his really cheesy jokes.
"So tell me. Why were you late for like half an hour? It's rare for you to be late. Especially spending time with me." He said as I freed myself from his arm. We were walking our way to the mall where he promised to buy me something to remember him while I'm in Australia.
"Well... The star couple broke up." I said.
"What!? Melanie and Austin broke up?" He asked, surprised. Who wouldn't be? Everyone loved the two together. They were the star couple of the school.
"Unfortunately, yes."
"Damn. That sucks! Who ended it?" He asked.
"It's not mine to tell but the two are miserable about the break up." I replied.
"Okay. I understand." He smiled. This is why I like Dylan. He knows the limits and he's also a good friend.
After a while he started cracking up corny and cheesy jokes to lighten up the mood. Which worked and I laughed so much my stomach started hurt.
I remembered how Dylan and I met. It was two years ago, I was thirteen and he was fifteen. It didn't started out as a very friendly friendship we had to one another. To be completely honest, he was a douche, well, still is but to other girls. We met through my old friend, Chase (who I haven't seen for such a long time because he moved) and Chase and Dylan were actually close cousins.
It started out as a normal get together between Chase and I in his house because his parents wanted me to come over and spend some time with Chase. I think it was because they wanted the two of us to be together. (Well, that was what Chase told me.) Anyways, I did spend the night in the house but around nine o'clock I wanted to leave already. It was because Dylan came over to spend the night. He and his parents had a fight and it resulted to him wanting to stay in Chase's house for the night. Chase's parents were fine with it but I wasn't.
When Dylan and I met, the first thing he asked me if I was single and truthfully, I answered a yes. Afterwards, he started to ask me out or give me pick up lines. Chase warned me about him being a player and I was already aware of that and just kept telling Dylan a flat out "no" but he won't take it for an answer until I told finally told him how old I was. He stopped.
Later on, after a few weeks he apologized about it and even added I wasn't like any other girls and that I didn't like him despite what my age could be. A few months later, we became friends and he even became like a protective older brother with me. I guess I don't regret meeting him because without him, I'll be even more bored with life.
When we arrived at the mall, we proceeded to go to one of my favourite shoe stores so I could look around and see what Dylan could buy for me.
"Have you seen anything yet?" He asked for about the third time this hour.
I shook my head no. "Okay," He said. "take your time, I guess."
"Thanks, Dylan." I smiled and went back to look at a pair of sandals. I was looking for something that'll caught my eye but so far. None yet. I decided to look around even farther. The store was big so there were actually a lot of choices and Dylan looked comfortable sitting on the chair.
After a few minutes or so, I found the most lovely yet simple pair of sandals a girl could ask for! The colour of the pair was like any other sandals, light brown and white but what caught my eye was the fact that it wasn't flat on the ground but it had at least a half inch, and the straps of the sandals were surely comfortable. I tried it on and it fit perfectly for me. I liked how the white straps weren't totally white and plain, and when I put it on, the straps weren't uncomfortable. I was right, it was the perfect comfortable sandals.
