"that's the end of today's lecture. see you next week." hye eun groaned as she stretches. "i'm heading to the bathroom. i'll catch you at the cafeteria?"

ha nah hummed as she packed up before heading downstairs. a commotion resounded through the hallway, where all the main lockers were. metal clanging, grunting, and shouting. "you don't want to be there." a hand reached out and grabbed her before she could take steps closer.

"i'm just grabbing something real quick." she turned her head to find ha min stopping her. "i'll be fine, ha min." she inched closer to the ruckus, right next to where her assigned locker was.

a boy was on the ground, butterfly tattoo visible above his right elbow as he inched backwards from three others, slowly getting closer to her. "you are just a nuisance, not of any help and just a burden, aren't you?" one of them scoffed. he raised an arm before stopping abruptly. someone was in his way. a girl.

"would you stop it already?" things went silent as many were left jaw dropped. we're talking about do hyun, the notorious rebel, who just so happened to turn up at school today, tie unfastened, shirt untucked. everyone knew he picked his new target weekly, but it had been three whole months for the boy on the floor and counting.

"ha nah, stop it. get over here." ha min could be heard just slightly above a whisper. "and who do we have here?" do hyun took a few steps closer, examining ha nah's face with a smirk plastered on his face. filled with arrogance, zero obeyance, that's who do hyun is.

ha nah turned around and offered her hand. the boy refused to take it, head turning in the opposite direction. "leave me alone. go." she bent down to help him up by his arm, struggling because of his weight and reluctance to get up. he finally got on his two feet as he dangled his bag over his shoulder. "you go."

do hyun let out a scoff as more and more students crowded the hallway. the heavy atmosphere spread throughout as many just kept silent and watched on. "kim do hyun, what is going on?"

finally. a teacher appeared. someone with authority. someone do hyun was definitely not scared of. "please leave for lunch. i'll settle things here." the crowd had scrambled away within minutes, butterfly boy nowhere to be found. ha nah couldn't even take a good look at his face. his hair was clearly too long for his own good, covering his eyes and almost reaching his nose. ha min had already dragged her away towards the cafeteria, where hye eun was impatiently tapping her feet, arms crossed.

ha nah kept a lookout for the boy, well his tattoo, for the rest of the day, but to no avail. it's like he disappeared into thin air. she was not the type to stand up for herself, much less for someone else. that moment of impulsiveness might have just set her back for the rest of her school term, or even till she graduates. and everyday, she just prayed trouble doesn't come knocking on her door.
