"It's been three days, James!" Sirius exclaimed, "How come he hasn't woken up?!" James looked quizzically at the pale figure that was lying on Sirius' bed (because the Potter's house was going to be finished in less than a week Sirius insisted that Harry sleep in Regulus's room for now). "I'm not the doctor here, Sirius, and you know that." James said, "I think you should talk to Severus about this." "That's insane!" Sirius shouted in disbelief, "Why would you of all people suggest that?!" "Listen Sirius, I think maybe it's time to-" "Look!" Sirius interrupted, "He's waking up!" He was right, Regulus's pale figure sat up groggily in his brother's bed, which didn't surprise anyone. The next thing though, did. At the sight of his surroundings, Regulus let out a small yelp and hid under the covers. Sirius looked puzzled, "Now why'd you go and do that? It's not going to help you get better." "N-n-no m-more Death Eaters!" Regulus Shouted from his unusual hiding place. "Regulus what in the world are you-" Sirius' voice caught as he ripped off the covers. This was the first time he actually got a good look at Regulus because of the fact that he was awake. His brother's eyes were wild with fear, his body was bruised everywhere that was visible, and his cheeks were stained with blood and tears. "Ouch," James commented, "I didn't know it was that bad. Sirius, he needs to see a doctor." "No, James." Sirius said, "I know what's going on here. Just leave us alone for now, we'll take him to St. Mungo's later." James heaved a sigh, "You're insane Padfoot." He said as he left the room. A long moment of silence between the two brothers followed. After a minute, Regulus was the one to break the silence. "They thought I was still on their side." He said. "Yeah?" Sirius said in disbelief, "After you died destroying a horucrux?" "Yup," Regulus replied, "So I played along for a bit, acting like I was on their side. It was easy for the first couple days, but then I saw them trying to execute a ministry official. That was when I snapped, lashing out and tackling Greyback as if it was the last thing I'd ever do, and then I ran. They chased after me hollering words like 'traitor' and 'mudblood-loving scum' like they were simple playground insults. The chase went on for days, sometimes with them catching me and torturing me for my 'deeds,' but I would always manage to escape. After a week or so I finally managed to lose them." Regulus's voice trailed off. "And that was when you came here, right?" Sirius asked, "Yeah." Regulus replied again. "Okay then," Sirius said, "Let's get you to sleep and then we can talk more in the morning." Regulus nodded and lay down before Sirius lay down next to him.

Sirius woke up to someone screaming "STOP IT!" He sat up quickly an listened to see where the screaming had come from. The screaming continued as Sirius realized that it was coming from his brother who was wrapped up in the sheets. "Regulus!" Sirius exclaimed as he untangled the sheets, "Regulus! Wake up!" Regulus woke up with a start, looked at Sirius, then started crying into his brother's shirt. "Regulus," Sirius said calmly, "it's going to be okay. What was the dream about? What happened?" "Sirius I- they were torturing you and-" Regulus sobbed some more. "and I couldn't- I wasn't- they were holding me back so I couldn't save you!" Regulus continued to cry. "It's okay," Sirius responded, "They haven't gotten me yet. Now since it's only 2:39 in the morning, let's go back to sleep."
A/N:
Hey guys! Here's another sad chapter for you because I felt like we needed a bit of backstory for Regulus (I promise the next chapter will be happier). Anyways, since I think I am overdue in terms of giving you some Marauders stuff, the next chapter will be called "Marauders Reinstated" and will feature Harry giving James the map and invisibly cloak! This chapter will hopefully be out in a few days. As always, I hope you liked this chapter and a late Happy New Year to you all!
XOXO,
