The wind blew from the north sending smells mixed in with others down south. Two wolves stood about 50 yards away from a she-wolf. Her fur beautiful in the sunlight. She sat on her back legs watching a boy play in the leaves. His laughter filled with joy as she played with him.

The two male wolves came a little closer watching her closely. They wanted her dead, and her son. They walked closer as they was coming from the south so the wind blew their way, making sure she didn't smell them. The larger one, skilled with sneak avoided sticks and dead leaves. As the smaller one, still in training stepped on a twig snapping it. The two males froze but the taller one gave the smaller one a cold glare.

The she-wolf's ears perked as she stood up and looked around. Feared for her son's life she nosed him back to camp. Surely as stubborn as a kid can be he refused but went anyways. Once he was gone she started looking around seeing what made the noise.

While she looked the older male wolf crept a little closer trying to get the kill. The smaller one stayed looking around for other wolves that might interfere in the older ones plans. The older male wolf jump landing on her back. She moved and shook her neck making it impossible for the male to bite down on her neck. She got him off her as she looked at him. She didn't know who he was. She thought he was a rogue and she could easily take him.

She jumped clawing his nose making it bleed horribly but making sure that would be a scar there forever. The male roared angry as he jumped on her again forcing her down on her back. He dug his claws in her shoulders making her yelp in pain. She started kicking his stomach with her back legs. She did it until she got deep to where he roared in pain jumping off her. Both tired of fighting the male wanted it to end so he jumped surprising her and grabbed her neck.

She was terrified knowing she will never be able to see her son grow up. Sad part, she was right. He snapped her neck, making her twitch some but then she lay dead in his jaws. He laid her down when he started hearing paws on the autumn ground. He took off with the smaller male following him.

All the heard after they left was "No! Abigail please! Don't go!" Until they were out of ear sight. They did what they were told. If they had gotten the son, it would be bonus, but they missed on that so they headed home to tell their leader of their victory. More like the older wolf's victory.
