It's fun having a series of books and I completely get it, I am already planing a spinoff for my crap of a book, but if your characters have a happy ending just leave them be!
I just finished a book that I actually really liked and (thank god) the characters had a happy ending, but then the author came out and started talking about a sequel but didn't know what to do because the first book had a complete resolution.
Now I'm not discouraging sequels, that particular author had said the sequel was because everyone was asking for one, but I personally hardly ever read sequels even if the book needs one.
