The Choice

We head out again with Tara leading the way and make some progress before having to stop again for sleep. "I know, I know we've barley started but I need more sleep considering we're going to be coming onto a magic lords fortress and we also need to establish guidelines". We get into the room and all sit in a 3 person circle "ok so first thing Adam is if I die between here and the fortress" lucas says shushing me as I protest "I may die so you need to know what to do, I've legally signed everything that's in my possession to you so you will take the camaro to the fortress and get your parents, then you will talk to your parents about how you came to be and after that it's up to you".

"What's up to me" I ask, lucas looks at me "whether you want to take a side or not" lucas says "I have a choice" I ask sarcastically "we all have a choice Adam remember that" he says. I nod and ask "who should I join" lucas stares at me for a second "that's for you to decide all I can tell you is that you hold the power in balance and a well civilized society and the world could be destroyed if you choose wrongly" he says. I look at him with distress in my eyes "don't be so harsh on him lucas" Tara says "it's going to be ok Adam you will make the right choice, I know you will" she says reassuringly. I look down, deep in thought when I feel a hand on my shoulder "it's going to be ok Adam we're going to get your family and then you can decide after that" lucas says, I nod and step away from the circle and lay in bed.

"Ok well I'll see you guys in the morning I need some sleep" lucas says. I feel like I've been sleeping for five minutes before I'm shaken awake by Tara "there's something wrong " she says pointing to lucas who is floating off the bed saying something like get away from them. I get up and walk over to him and try to push him back down but his charm is so powerful that I can barley even budge him "get away from my son" he screams "Mr Lucas" I say "it's Adam are you ok", his eyes remain closed and I decide I have to force my way into his head before he casts a spell.

I throw a link out and start to force my way past his barriers "Mr lucas" I scream in his head , his barriers drop and I see his arm stretch out for a baby and the other for a woman "make your choice" a looming voice says "take the kid lucas please" the woman says "Beth" lucas says "no lucas take the child I'll be ok" Beth says, lucas' arm wraps around the child and turns around just in time to see Beth get hit by a death spell and fall backwards "leave my sight lucas" the voice says as the memory fades away.

I find myself on the floor with Tara looming over me "are you ok" she asks "yeah I'm fine" I say sitting up to find lucas doing the same. "Who was that master" I ask lucas, he looks at me "you shouldn't have been in my head Adam" he says not answering my question, "I had to master I didn't know if you were going to cast a spell or not" I try to explain. "It's ok Adam" lucas says, "who was that" I repeat, lucas looks at me "that was my wife and child" he says "you have a child" I ask "not anymore" he says, "what happened to him" I ask. "He's dead" he says finishing the conversation.
