Chapter Twenty Eight

Jack and Jack invited us to the house that they were staying at. I sent a message to my mom so she would know where we were. We paid for our meals and left the restaurant. Their place wasn't far away so we walked.

"So Kim..." Johnson started as he swung his arm around my shoulders.

"Tell me about yourself" he finished.

"What do you want to know Johnson?" I smiled. He had a thinking face on.

"I don't know, you tell me" he said.

"Well, I'm Kimberlee Casey Dallas, used to be Sheller. I'm adopted by Gina, Cameron's mom. My mom died when I was little and then I lived with my grandma, but she died as well, so I had to go back to my dad, but he never wanted me. He abused me and tried to rape me multiple times. Now he's in jail because of Nash, Hayes, Cameron and his mom." I spilled out. He didn't responded. He just gave me a hug.

"I'm sorry" he said in my ear. We pulled apart as we run back to the others.

"It's okay Jack" I said revealing a small smile.

We arrived at their house. Madison was still on top of Gilinsky. "So what are we going to do?" Johnson asked everyone.

"What about a movie?" Gilinsky suggested. We agreed.

"A scary one" Cameron said smirking at me. I rolled my eyes and took place in the sofa. I was sitting between Cameron and Johnson. Gilinsky and Madison were in the other sofa.

I had no idea what movie this was but I was so scared. People died  constantly. And then suddenly I jumped up and rested my head on Jack's chest.

"You okay?" He asked with smirk on his face. I hit him playfully and continued to watch the movie but I stayed close to Jack.

The movie was over and to be honest, I was more than glad it was over. Such a cruel film. I unlocked my phone and looked at the time. It was 5:30 PM now. "What do you want to do tonight?" Jack asked me. "What about going to the beach?" I suggested. They all agreed as we took our coats and walked outside. It was already getting a little cold but this was going to be fun.

We arrived at the beach and we saw that we were the only people there. My mom had just texted me.

Mom: Are you coming home for dinner?

Me: yes, and is it okay if we bring 3 extra people?

Mom: it's okay, bye honey

Me: thank you! Bye mom

I really wanted to get to know the Jacks. "Me and Madison need to go, I'm sorry" Gilinksy apologized. They left as I texted my mom that there was only going to be one extra.

We just walked at the beach. We talked and laughed the whole time. I liked Johnson for sure.

"So Kim, do you have a clue what the surprise is going to be tomorrow? On New Year's Eve?" Cameron said making me curious. I shook my head.

"I have no idea, is it something that has to do with New Year's Eve or is it just a surprise?" I asked not knowing what it was going to be.

"You'll see" he said teasingly.

I hate surprises, but sometimes I love them. I'm just so curious that I always want to know everything. 

"You'll like it" Jack suddenly said.

"Really? Even he knows?" I said trying to look pissed but then Jack shrugged his shoulders and I started laughing.

"I knew you can't look mad at me" he winked. How cheesy.

We went to our place and gave the gifts to the dogs, they liked it. I played with Cali as Jack was watching me. "What?" I made him break out of his dreams.

"You are both cute" he simply answered. I smiled as I felt my cheeks heat up a little. He came sitting next to me and took Cali of off my lap.

After dinner I went up to my room and Jack and Cameron went to Cam's room. I went to my bed and sat down. It was a fun but long day today. I took my phone and saw I had 4 missed calls from an unknown number. I was starting to think about, what if it was the police, what if it was for my dad, what if that happened, what if he would be free again? My phone rang again which took me out of my thoughts.

"Hello?" I said picking up.

"Hello, is this miss Sheller?" a woman asked.

"Yes, well, my name is Dallas now, who is this?" I asked polite.

"This is the police," my heart dropped, "I'm sorry to tell you this over the phone, but your neighbors just past away in a tragic car accident" she ended.

I didn't know what to answer. They helped me so much when my dad wasn't around. I went to them with my homework and they cooked meals for me all the time. I played with their dog. But then my dad found out. He made sure I wouldn't go again. But sometimes, when I got home from school, they talked to me and made me feel better most of the time. They were around 50-60 years old and had no kids and I remember Mrs Filler telling me she dreamed of having a daughter like me.

"Their last words were about you, they wanted you to know they loved you" the police woman said.

It made me fall on my knees. They meant so much to me. How could it end so quickly? Why?

"When is the funeral?" I asked with a shaky voice.

"It will be the January 2 at 10am in the local church" she answered.

I knew where to go. I use to go there because the cemetery is right next to it and there is where my mom lays.

I thanked her for calling and ended the call. I laid down on my bed. How did this happen? Cali jumped on my chest and started licking my face. I sat up again and looked at him. His silly reactions to my hand going up and down made me smile a little. I had to ask mom. I went downstairs as Cali followed me of course. I was looking for mom. She wasn't in the kitchen so I went to the living room.

"Hi mom" I started as I sat down next to her on the couch. "I'm sorry to ask this, but can I fly back to North Carolina the day after tomorrow?"

She looked up. "And why would you want to do that?"

"My neighbors from when I lived with my dad past away" I said. I explained her everything and mentioned the funeral.

"Oh honey, I would love to join you, but I can't I have to go working. I'm sorry" mom apologized.

"It's okay, I'll go alone" I answered. I didn't mind. I understand her.

"Alone? Where are you going?" Cameron said walking in with Johnson by his side.

"I'm going back to North Carolina the day after tomorrow" I said explaining it again.

"I can come with you" Johnson suggested. I nodded. "Thank you"
