Jumping to his feet Lex realized how late it must be by the darkening of the sky and the hue of the forest around him. Brushing the moss from his backside from where he had drifted off next to a huge tree. He could still hear the clanging of steel that told him he had enough time to make it back home in time for dinner.

He took off at a jog hoping to get there quickly. After sleeping half of the day away in the forest he was hungry. He had hoped that the snares he set had caught something considering he had slept instead of bagging any game. Slowing to track his snares he wasn't disappointed.

He had successfully snared three large rabbits and a big fat squirrel. That would would make due for today. He would just have to come back tomorrow and hunt instead of sleep. It was good that he had set those snares or he wouldn't have much to bring back home.

He continued on following the sound of hammering steel while he found his way out of the now darkened woods. He waved his rabbits in the direction of the forge, stopping short when he realized his father wasn't there. He could still hear the clanging but there was no smoke and the forge was unoccupied.

He took off at a full sprint and just as he reached the front door he fell ...face first, flat on the floor of his bedroom panting as if he had really been running." It was just a dream." He said to himself when he started hearing the clanging of pots in the kitchen.

"Well I'm up." He said groggily as he walked right up to the source of his frustrations.
"Good timing I'm just about to make breakfast." Beamed Kairi as she bounced around the kitchen with no reguard for the disaster she left in her wake.

"Well that's wonderful but couldn't you do it with a little less force I fear for the cast iron. It may not live to see another egg with the way you are handling it. It sounds as if my father was making swords for a whole army!" Laughed Lex jokingly.

" Well I guess I could do that or you could always just make yourself something to
eat." She teased.

"On the other hand maybe those pots need a little more tempering. Bang them as you wish. A mans got to eat and I'm not used to a lady in the house. I might let you stay if the taste is right." He continued and couldn't help but laugh as she threw a punch in his direction and dropped a pot on her own foot.

"That's it!!! You are eating outside in the cold. And if your lucky and everything's okay with your father ,Clare and I will be leaving first light tomorrow! Owww- you little- !"

She laughed as she hopped on one foot.

"Hey it wasn't my fault! If you would stop abusing that pot with your foot maybe you could actually get the food started.I'm starved and your enjoying it."he joked turning to run.

The look on her face was a mixture between malice and laughter she looked like a madwoman.

"Your gonna get it!" She yelled as she took off in pursuit of a fleeing Lex.
Just as they turned the corner they froze.

Zander looked them up and down while pulling on his worn boots.

"Well look at you two,I take it you've warmed up to each other."

He said as he stood and made his way over to a shell shocked Lex. His son looked as if he had seen a ghost.

"Well don't just stand there! I thought I heard breakfast."

Lex couldn't believe it. Was he serious?
He laughed and examined his father thoroughly. He couldn't believe this was the same man who lay wrecked at deaths door just last night. You would think he'd still be in bed at least.
