Phil
The people of the bus did not enjoy us having to take up 2 extra seats with our shoppings. We got a lot of glares and looks at the rustling the bags made and the fact that I dropped one when we entered, scattering broom bristles everywhere. Dan did some covert vlogging in the bus, whispering to the camera, "Everyone here wants to murder us." We were happy to get off (and so was everyone else), but we almost missed our stop because Dan was scrolling, searching for a picture of a pygmy turtle wearing a top hat and I was playing with Jackson. He's the cutest little thing. He has a sister named Laura and- I wish I they had a whale icon for Crossy Road, other than hipster whale. I should've created an Orca instead of an Emo Goose. But I don't think I can do a whale sound. Anyway, it was a few minutes walk to Ryman's, and Dan was mostly silent all the way there. "Is something wrong?" I asked as we turned the block, each carrying several bags. "Hm? Oh, no, nothing." I raised an eyebrow. "Daniel." I said in what would be my questioning tone. "Oh don't give me that. You know I'll tell you anyway." I nodded. "So spill." He sighed. "I guess it's just the fact that everything's changing- our life as we know it is going to be over soon. We won't have our apartment anymore, or London, or Day In The Life's. It'll be so different." "Dan, it's not going to change that much. It's like we're going back to school." "We both hated school!" "This is different. It's Hogwarts. Isn't that what we've been dreaming about since age 7?" "Something like that, yeah." "And we'll be coming back. Soon. The flat will just be empty for a few months. Change doesn't have to be negative." I said, giving him an encouraging smile. He couldn't afford to have another existential crisis so soon after the last one. "Yeah, you're right. I mean, I'm excited for everything, but it also feels strangely..." "Out of place." I finished for him. "I know what you mean. But try to think positively. It's a good strange." Dan nodded as we arrived at Ryman's. "Thanks Philu." "No problem, Dancun." We entered the shop and split up again, after Dan had a clear talk with me to only grab essentials. "We are here for parchment and maybe ink, nothing else. Capiche?" I nodded and rolled me eyes. "I didn't pick up that much stuff." "I feel like a pack mule, Phil. It's a lot of stuff." I found some great things, eagle feathered quills (which I hope weren't real), a whole array of rainbow ink, and a huge shredder which I nearly snagged as well. "Parchment parchment parchment where are you." I muttered, browsing the shelves of markers, printer paper and personalized envelopes. I nearly bumped into Dan at the end of one of the aisles, him having done a lap around the store and turned up empty handed. "Look, you can get customized stamps and things! Wouldn't that be cool, to have our own sort of crest to stamp letters with-" "No Phil. Concentrate." "Right right nevermind." I put the stamp down and continued the search. One of the employees approached us (probably annoyed by the never-ending sound of our bags) and offered to help find anything. I was about to say no when Dan piped up, "We're looking for parchment. Like the rough, scroll type." The employee looked at us weirdly for a second. I pulled out the second paper that came with our acceptance letters and Susan's package which listed the items we needed to buy for the school year. I showed him the paper, making sure he didn't see the contents. "Like this. It...it's for a project." He felt the paper and nodded. "Yes, we should have something like that in the back. Let me go check for you and bring it out." The worker left and we perused the shelves for the few moments he was gone. He returned with a furled up roll of paper, yellow and aged, similar to the one the letters were written on. "That's perfect." I said, looking at Dan. He nodded. "I'll ring it up for you. Anything else you were interested in?" "That's all." I replied, and we went up to the counter, leaving a minute later with our purchase. Dan whipped out the camera and did a quick scan of the area. "Parchment adventure complete! For some deranged reason its still sunny, but with my luck that one cloud in the sky will turn into an angry death cloud and rain on us all." We started walking back, admiring the calm of the day. We ran into a pair of subscribers, and then we neared the metro station. Dan pointed out another cloud. I looked up to see that it was darker and smaller than a normal cloud. A bit thinner, and oddly shaped. And also then fact that it was hurdling toward us at lightning speed. "Move!" I dragged Dan out of the way and we made a run for it, running the fastest I've probably ever run in my whole life when-
(sorry for the shameless cliffhanger. More coming really soon! Hint is in the title :P)
