Phil

I woke up with a very stiff neck and for some reason, a wet ear. Susan was curled up on the nightstand, looking as innocent as possible. As I put my glasses on, I found that they too were covered in Pygmy saliva. Blegh. Winston wasn't in the room, so I assumed he preferred to sleep in the lounge. The vlogging camera was laying next to Susan's shivering figure, and that gave me an idea. I picked it up and yawned, pressing the record button and waving at the lens. "Good morning, guys! It is...wow is it that early? It's half past 8...that doesn't seem early, I know, but seeing as we went to bed at half 12, I expected it to be 11 or something. Susan's still snoring." I pointed the camera at her as she let out a little sigh. "Lets go wake up Dan!" I got out of bed, leaving the sheets in a large knotted bundle. Susan opened one eye to see what I was up to, but then decided it wasn't worth waking up for and went back to sleep. I trudged over to Dan's room, and knocked the camera against the door. I put on a high voice and said, "Daaaaaannnny! Wakey wakey!" I heard rustling and a groan. "Phil do you know what time it is?!" A groggy voice said. "Nearly 9, why?" The door opened. Dan stood there in a wrinkled shirt and sweatpants. "You should not be cheerful this early." "We have loads to do! And I think we should take the internet along with us on a very special adventure today." "Ugh what do you have planned Phil?" I chuckled. "You know how our letter included a list of spellbooks and things?" "Yes I remember. Why is that relevant?" "There's only one place we can get all of that. Try and guess." Dan rolled his eyes and walked further into the hallway.  "Go on then, Phil." I turned the camera towards me and said, "Diagon Alley." "Wow way to be climactic. Okay, fine. But before ANYTHING happens, I need breakfast. And coffee." Dan said, and stomped down the hallway toward the kitchen. I stopped recording while we made breakfast, and Dan picked it up again when we sat on the couch with our cereal. "Now that I am civil and have caffeine in my system, I can clearly get excited over the fact that later today, we will actually be in a place that is filled with actual, physical magic. There will be no more doubt or skepticism!" "Correct! See Dan, I knew you'd be excited. Once your brain woke up, that is." I replied. "So, what anime shall we peruse today, Phil?" I put on an old episode of Attack On Titan, I just felt in the mood. "According to this," Dan help up a worn copy of Philosopher's Stone, "We need to go to Charing Cross Road and we should be able to see The Leaky Cauldron." "We've been to Charing Cross loads of times though, Dan, why haven't we seen it before?" He shrugged. "Didn't pay proper attention? Or maybe you can only see it after you've gotten your letter. Who knows." We finished breakfast and met back by the door wearing our day outfits. "I sure hope they've upgraded their systems at Hogwarts and have good wifi now." "Well, I suppose that since there's been so much technological advancement lately they've found some spells to allow people to bring computers and phones into the school without them going haywire. Otherwise they would probably lose a lot of students." I said, putting on my space coat. "True. You're going to be hot, Phil, it's nearly summer." Dan remarked, wrapping Susan's cage in a scarf again and putting her in his pocket. "I want to fit in with all the wizards who try dressing like Muggles and fail miserably." "So, you want to look like you don't know how to dress properly." "Can we go?" Dan sighed in defeat and grabbed the keys. Winston must've heard the opening of the door because he surprised us both by flying out of the lounge and into the hallway, landing on my shoulder. "Nearly forgot about you! Winston, you can't come with us, but I promise we'll remember to get Owl Treats this time, okay?" The owl hooted indignantly and took off again, flying down the hallway and crashing into something further down it. I laughed and exited the house, skipping down the stairs while Dan closed the door behind us.

It was windy, so I was glad I had my coat.  "Susan's shivering." Dan said. "Told you." I replied, putting the hood of my coat up as we approached Charing Cross Road. We had taken the underground and Dan vlogged a minute of our trip- until someone crashed into him and made him drop the camera on the floor of the train. Now I took out the camera and displayed the street. "I dunno, everything looks the same to me, Phil." He said as we crossed the road and glanced at the shops lined up next to one another. "We'll find it." I said, trying to push away my own doubt. We walked for a few minutes, our eyes searching every store front window, when I realized I couldn't hear Dan's footsteps behind me anymore. I stopped. "Dan?" He was simply standing there, staring at something in front of us. I came up next to him, trying to see what he was so intently fixed on.  "Dan?" Then he pointed to a small rotten sign, slowly swaying in the wind, and very faded so you could barely see what it said. Dan smirked. "The Leaky Cauldron." He said simply, and ran his fingers through his hair before strutting forward. "Wish us luck!" I whispered to the camera before putting it away. Dean was the only wizard I had met before, but I didn't think the management of the Inn would take too kindly to us recording their secrets. The door jingled as it opened. The air halted as we entered and looked around. There were a few wizards sitting at a table wearing hoods and nursing beers, and another pair playing cards in a dark corner. The barkeep was drying some glasses. His round face lit up when he saw us. "Ah, they're some of our kind! Hannah, turn the lights on!" We were both temporarily blinded as the room spun and the appearance changed. It was no longer tiny, dark and dusty. "Wow." Dan said, rubbing his eyes. The floor looked brand new, freshly shined black and white tile. The wallpaper was an alternating design of trolls dancing. The wizards were now dressed in colorful robes and cloaks, and bright lights hung from the ceiling. "I know you two!" One of the wizards playing cards said. "Course I do, my daughter loves your videos!" "Well thank you," Dan said. "We didn't expect to get recognized here. We're actually trying to get to Diagon Alley." "I can help you with that, gentlemen, step right this way!" The barkeep said, coming out from behind the counter. I started. "N-Neville?" He wiped his hands on a white rag. "Yeah, have we met?" We shook hands. "No, no, but we do know who you are. I didn't realize you had taken over the pub. Love what you've done with that place." He grinned. "Thanks. Hannah's the one to compliment, really. She took over most of the redecorating after Tom retired. You do look familiar, I think Luna must've showed me a video of yours. You're wizards, huh?" "Well, we got our letters. A decade late, but that's fine." Dan said, trying not to sound bitter. Neville chuckled. "You still know Luna then, do you?" I asked. "Oh yeah, we're great friends. She brings tons of random creatures around all the time, but the tenants enjoy it. I'm pretty sure her sons are fans of yours, S'probably why you ring a bell. Listen, can I get you anything while you're here?" "No, thank you, we're just passing through. We were worried we wouldn't be able to find the place." "Well, look forward to seeing you again. The entrance is this way." He led us to the back of the inn and outside, to a tiny space cordoned off by a crumbling brick wall. "Watch carefully, as there's no backup password." Neville said, and we watched as he tapped the bricks in order with his wand. For a few seconds, nothing happened, but then they stared to change and fold in on one another. Dan and I glanced at each other with looks of complete awe on our faces. "Well, there you go. Diagon Alley." Neville said, gesturing to the world beyond the archway. I then nudged Dan's shoulder and he smiled at me. "Thank you very much for your help." I said. "Oh, no problem, hope all goes well. Come back soon!" We waved and walked through the archway into the first magical place we ever saw; Diagon Alley.

(PS Sorry for the long wait! Life is pretty rude and likes to get in the way of my fanfics XD Anyway, my goal is to post a new chapter every Sunday/Monday and circulate between the 3 latest fanfics I have. So if all goes well, expect a new chapter of something every Monday! Cheers :))
