“Let’s go inside. It’s cold.” Denmark said, motioning towards the house. Norway nods, and follows Denmark.

Inside the house, Finland is checking the clock. 11:54. Six minutes until their departure. Sweden has their bags packed, and is handing Finland a coat.

“Are you coming, Iceland?” Finland asks, unsure of Iceland’s plans. Iceland shrugs. Finland nods.

“Su-san?” Finland asked worriedly. “Denmark’s coming to the door.” Sweden hurriedly grabs his bags along with Finland’s.

“You have everything?” Sweden asks. Finland nods. “Let’s go.”

Sweden quickly pushes towards the door, hoping not to have to speak to Denmark. Iceland doesn’t pick up on this.

“You should at least-“ Iceland begins, but is cut off by the slamming of the door. Sweden is gone, and Finland is at the door.

“Goodbye Iceland. I’ll hopefully talk to you soon.” Finland says, waving and walking out the door. Iceland is alone.

To avoid having been seen by Denmark, Iceland quickly makes his way to his room. And he’s just in time, for the back door opens as he shuts his.

Denmark walks into the living room, and sits on the couch, motioning Norway to sit next to him.

“Nor?” Denmark asked, as Norway reluctantly sat next to Denmark. “When are you leaving? That is, if you are leaving.”

Norway shrugs. Denmark isn’t pleased with his answer.

“Are you leaving?” Denmark asked, looking down at Norway. Denmark’s eyes were sad, and seemed to be a duller shade of blue.

“Must I reply?” Norway asked, not making eye contact with Denmark.

“I’d like you to.” Denmark replied, turning his head away from Norway. The brotherly friendliness feeling in the room had left, leaving this awkward chill.

A thud and cursing was heard from another room. Norway stood up, and walked back to the source of the noise.

“Ice?” Norway asked, peeking into Iceland’s room. “You okay? Heard a noise.”

Iceland was picking up his small pile of books off the floor.

“I’m fine. Just dropped a few books.” Iceland replied, standing upright and looking at Norway.

Norway felt a presence lingering behind him. It was Denmark, looking over Norway’s shoulder at Iceland. Iceland looked at Denmark. Denmark smiled a little, then walked away from the doorframe. Norway relaxed a little.

“Are we leaving?” Iceland whispered to Norway. Norway nodded.

“Soon. Before morning.” Norway whispered back, glancing over his shoulder once more to make sure Denmark wasn’t still there.

“Okay.” Iceland replied.

“Make sure you’re packed in less than two hours.” Norway said, before leaving Iceland’s room.

“Hey Nor, you never answered my question.” Denmark said, smiling at Norway.

“Didn’t I say something about calling me ‘Nor’ earlier?” Norway replied, clearly avoiding the question.

“Maybe. Doesn’t matter, though. I just need an answer.” Denmark said, being persistent.

Norway sighed. “I will be leaving. Not sure when, though.” Norway said. If these words hurt Denmark as much as they did Norway, they would both be saddened. Denmark nodded, but Norway couldn’t see his expression.

“Anko?” Norway asked. Denmark turned around. “Want something to drink?” Norway smiled. Denmark returned the smile.

“Sure.”

Norway grabbed one of Denmark’s beers from the refrigerator. He took two glasses from the cupboard, and filled one with the beer. The other, he filled with water. Norway was never fond of beer.

Norway did, in fact, have a plan. He wasn’t sure if it would work, but it would save him the pain of a goodbye. More rustling from the back of the house was heard.

“Here,” Norway handed Denmark the glass of beer.

“Thank you, No-…Norway.” Denmark said, a little bit awkwardly. He normally didn’t call Norway by his proper name, so it was a bit odd for him. It made Denmark feel as if they weren’t brothers.

Well, that was sort of true. They weren’t blood brothers, but had grown up with each other. Denmark referred to Norway as his brother. And since Norway was young when they met, Norway believed Denmark was his real brother. Eventually, he was disappointed by the truth. The truth he wished he wasn't told.
