"Did you really punch him?

"Yeah."

Sunny threw her head back, laughing loudly.

"That's so fucking priceless Hayden."

After my confrontation with Drae, I had met up with her at the front of the school. Our houses were conveniently on the same street; we always walked home together.

"What did you even see in that guy Sunny?" I gave her a sideways look.

She was staring straight ahead, then shivered and did up the zipper on her sweater. Her frizzy red hair disappeared as she pulled a green hood over her head.

"I don't know." She shoved her hands deep into her pockets. The sweater Sunny was wearing was oversized, but it looked warm.

Much better in comparison to my thin windbreaker.

Mid-April meant it was still cold and rainy out, the skies were always gray and there were puddles everywhere.

It was the kind of weather that could make the happiest person depressed.

"I guess," She continued. "He seemed like a dream. Like, one of those perfect guys in books or games. But he was real, you know?"

No, I really didn't know. But I wasn't about to try and comprehend Sunny's thought process anyway. Girls were too hard to figure out. And as much as Sunny denied it, she thought like a girl too.

"He's an idiot." I mutter.

My sneakers were drenched from the puddles.

The wind was whipping my face as we walked.

And we were talking about Drae.

It all put in me in a gloomy mood.

A light smile flittered across Sunny's face. She kicked a rock under her foot, sending it skipping down the road.

"I know."

"So you're over him?"

"Mmhm."

I exhaled in relief. Good thing Sunny was an all or nothing girl. She had put all her cards on the table today, if Drae wasn't interesting than she wouldn't waste any more time. No mourning over him for months and months, stalking his Facebook or begging him to change his mind.

We wouldn't have anything to do with Drae anymore.

Our conversation on the way back was mostly about how shitty the weather was. I made the mistake of bringing up the old rumour about Sunny, about how the weather changed depending on her mood. It wasn't like I believed it- until one day someone kicked her in the shins and we had a snowstorm for the rest of the week.

She didn't find the joke very funny.

I was still holding my poor crotch when we reached her house.

"Hey kids!" Mrs.Kartly opened the door for us. She glanced down at my hands as I stepped in, and snorted.

"What did Summer do this time?"

Sunny kicked her shoes off, and threw her hood off her head.

"Nothing, it was all Hay's fault." She grumbled before heading into the kitchen. From here I could hear the fridge door open, and Sunny began searching and digging around for food inside.

"I'm fine Hannah, really." I reassured Summer's mother, who was still looking down at me warily.

I had known her for so long; she was practically like a second mother to me. Her face was identical to Sunny's but she was a tiny bit taller with long peach coloured hair. Today it was pinned back in a tidy ponytail.
