We stay inside the run down cabin for most of the next day.
Amy is asleep when I sneak out to go find some water my anxiety of where Aaron is is growing by the minute, he should have been back by now.
Where is he?
I wonder?
I began walking through the forest looking for any sing of water.
There were markings in the soil to my left indicating to a stream nearbye.
No luck , I sighed
How were we going to survive with no water?
I heard a crack of a branch, spinning around I saw the slightest glance of Aaron's face... A smile spread across it.
" Aaron what are you doing"? I asked
" what's it look like"? He shrugged
" it looks like your being an idiot and trying to get us killed"
" I would never do such a thing" he proclaimed.
" where did you come from"? I asked the question haunting my mind.
" well I was hanging around here for a bit when a fricken Ray nearly killed me in the same spot". He said pointing to where I was standing
I immediately moved to the left.
He continued...
"Luckily I slashed his head in with a rock and climbed up that tree above you..." " and too be honest I was too Chilean to get back down until I saw you just now"!" Well I have to admit it was rather strange finding you so easily this forest is huge" I said flaring out my arms.
He smiled.. Then it disappeared
" where's Amy "? He asked
I considered telling him the truth about Amy's pregnancy and how it was his baby but I decided against it.It was her news to tell not mine.
" follow me" I said
He did
We arrived at the old ruin down house shortly.
Amy was asleep on the bed still just like when I left her.
Aaron smiled clearly pleased to know of her safety.
I went to go wake her up, by Aaron stopped me, " let her sleep" " we all need rest"I went to go stand by the door reading to take first watch but Aaron protested " I was up in that tree all day" " I have had plenty enough time to sleep"
So I slipped upstairs wanting some time to myself.
It took me a while to drift off but I eventually did slowly going into another restless night.
I could hear the deceased as well as the Rays outside as they walked limply around looking for something to claw there teeth into.It gave me the shivers just thinking about them.
I tried to shake it off.
Aaron woke me and Amy up early the next day.
" we got to get moving, Virginia isn't going to wait all day"
I noticed Amy baby bump for the first time it instinctively looked bigger than it had yesterday.
Aaron seemed to have taken no interest and I knew Amy hadn't told him yet..... He is going to find out eventually better sooner than latter I thought.
We walked for most of the day and came across no rays or deceased.
Weird we had hardly seen any of them since we had been here.
Maybe the cold weather slowed them down in this area?
I hoped so.
As we walked Aaron ahead of us I slowed down to any.
" you haven't told him"? I asked her
" does it look lie I have"? She asked raising her eyebrows" well your going to have to tell him sometime" " might as well be now"?
" you really think now is the time"? She said sarcastically " to tell him that his not so great. Girlfriend is pregnant with his baby during an APOCALYPSE?"
" I guess not" I said
" but do it soon" " he deserves to know" I told her" I will " she hissed " just leave it to me.
Aaron spin around " what you guys talking about"? He asked us raising his eyebrows
" nothing " we both said at the same time
" I hope you guys aren't planning a surprise party for me"" that will be the day" i retorted back to him
" well if you are I like chocolate cake" he told us clearly joking
" I'll make note of that" Amy said pretending to write it down on an imaginary notepad.
He spilled clearly pleased he had lightened the mood.
I spilled too satisfied it showed even in a world like this we still had moment.. Scratch that fragments of joy in our lives.
