Eriks POV

Someone was not welcome in this Opera House and I couldn't hold back. The Phantom has been unleashed. My vision clouds over and with one swift movement I pick up Christine and carry her down to the labyrinth through my secret passageways. Before she can object to anything I have on my white mask my cape and my fedora and I'm out of ear shot from her about to unleash the monster that has been hidden for so long. I hurry back up to the main stage and see a man standing. Well sort of wobbling around. Probably drunk. Bastard. I slunk to my hiding place in the chandelier.

"WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE HERE "

The drunken idiot stumbles into my theatre.

"HEY YOU BASTARD GET OUT HERE I WANT TO MEET YOU FACE TO FACE"

"YOU IDIOT. I WILL ONLY ASK YOU ONCE. LEAVE ME AND MY ANGEL BE. THEN YOU WILL NOT BE HARMED."

He laughed.

"You bastard. She's already chosen me."

His whiskey is sloshing out of the bottle and he makes his way toward the stage. His speech is slurred and I'm on the verge of killing him. My managers run onto the stage and I can see my Christine peek her head out from behind the curtain. The idiot sees her and he runs over to her grabs her and kisses her sloppily. She doesn't seem to be pushing him away. In fact she looks like she's embracing him. My managers are overjoyed to see Christine again and pull them apart. They're hugging her and asking her about why she left and all that. Suddenly that idiot drunkard pulled her into another kiss. Only this one seemed for passionate. Again she seemed to embrace it. She didn't push away or look disgusted. Christine how could you. We were just married yesterday. My heart is utterly broken. After their kiss she hugs him and practically tears his jacket off. The managers leave them in peace and soon enough they're all over each other. He starts kissing her neck and all of the sudden I hear her moan "Oh Raoul"
The way she said his name was the exact same way she moaned mine just last night. She was going back to that idiot. They're basically making love on MY STAGE.
NO. That will not happen.
I did something that I don't regret. I sang to her. Telling her we're done.

I gave you my music

Made your song take wing

And now how you've repaid me

Denied me and betrayed me

He was bound to love you

When he heard you sing

They were startled out of their little love fest as my voice boomed over the opera house. I swiftly moved to box 5 and Christine didn't stand down. No in fact she actually defied me further. She looked right into box 5 and grabbed Raouls hand as they sang.

Say you'll share with me one love one lifetime

Say the word and I will follow you

Share each day with me each night each morning

I glared at her and Raoul together. If this is what she chooses. Then this is what I'll leave her be with.

YOU WILL CURSE THE DAY YOU DID NOT DO

ALL THAT THE PHANTOM ASKED OF YOU

That was it. The last time I saw her. In the arms of that fop. She betrayed my trust. I thought she loved me. I was wrong. I shall never trust anyone again. As my voice boomed over the theatre once more she and the bastard of a man ran out of my opera house. I left box 5 and went to her dressing room. I took my wedding ring off my finger and looked at it for a while. Pondering why everything came crashing down. She was professing her love to me and placing this ring on my finger just yesterday. I sighed. Monsters aren't meant for happiness I presume. I placed my ring on her dresser then left. Returning to my passageways up above. The managers came back out, obviously they overhead the entire affair.
Firman was first to speak
"Monsieur Phantom."

He sounded very timid. Very afraid.

"Yes sir?"

I was too upset to make my voice boom. I didn't care anymore.

"Would you like a drink?"

I sighed again. My managers were making efforts to cheer up their once dangerous opera ghost.

"I suppose sirs. I shall meet you in your office."

And that's where we met. I stayed in the shadows for quite sometime. When I felt welcome enough I sat down at a chair near their desk. My face non visible thanks to the combination of my fedora and mask. My cape was covering everything else. They were very timid with me. Trying to offer me words of comfort. After our drink I bid them farewell and headed to my now empty home. Before I returned to the catacombs I decided to lock the Populairs doors. As I turned the lock I heard a small cry. I unlocked the door and opened it hoping to find Christine. Sadly my wishes did not come true. However I did find an outrageously adorable feline. It was snowing outside and she was terribly cold. She ran up against my leg and purred. I guess I have a soft spot for cats. I picked up my new black torte-shell kitten.

"Hmm I think I'll call you Ayesha."

I tucked her in my cape for warmth and then proceeded to lock the doors. I moved down to the catacombs and found that it was torn apart. Christine's clothing was everywhere. On our- uh- my bed. On the floor. I glanced towards the bed and saw a note addressed to me. I made a fire in the fire place and set Ayesha down. She curled up pleasantly by the fire and I went to read the note.

Dear Monsiur Phantom,

You are not the man I married. The man I married was not a phantom. He was merely a changed man. Who would not kill for anything. Not even me. I do not wish to be with you anymore. Raouls plan worked I guess. I loved him and not you. I never loved you. It was all an act to see if you weren't a cold hearted man like I thought you were. Well it turned out that you can be a decent human being. For once in your miserable life. You're a bastard. A monster and I never wish to see your disgusting face ever again. Thank you for teaching me. I wish to inform you that I utterly hate you Erik Destler. You are truly a piece of shit unworthy of my time. You are an asshole.

Sincerely
Christine Daaé

I read the letter and tears welled up in my eyes.
What the hell?!? This woman made love to me willingly yesterday? And now she wants nothing to do with me. It suddenly dawned on me that my hideous face had poisoned our love. This face. The infection. This face which earned a mothers fear and loathing.
I was no longer an angel of music. I no longer had my muse. I no longer had my angel of music.
I cleaned up the mess that was my home and put all of Christine's things away. I changed the sheets and put the ones that we made love on in the back of a closet so I will not be reminded of those now painful memories. My angel hated me. She called me a monster. She said so herself. I'm a bastard. A piece of shit that is not worth her time. I remember a time when she worshiped me called me her angel of music. Now that is all gone. And we only had one day of a honeymoon. I went over to the couch and Ayesha was there. I sat down and started stroking the beautiful feline. All the sudden I hear a sympathetic voice behind me.

"Hi Erik"

I stand up, turn around and smile.

"Hey Z. Never thought I'd see you again"

She smiled and walked over to the couch and sat next to where I was. I sat next to her.

"Let's talk Erik. You need to get Christine back."
