Part 1

"Another date?"I whined and walked into the kitchen.

"Yes.We need you to find someone you can love and spend the rest of your life with,raise children and do what married couples do."My mom said handing me coffee.

"Why can't I fall in love like a normal person?"She began to wash the dishes.

"You are 21.A lawyer in the making honey."She sighed."I just don't want you to grow old and lonely."

"Mom,I will always have you and Ryan."She smiled.

"You won't always have me."I hugged her.

"Don't talk like that.I am going to head down to my office."She smiled.

"Drive safe."I nodded and left.

"Morning Cassie."I waved to the lady at the front desk

"Good morning Miss.Jones."I smiled and walked to my office.

My bestfriend Ryan works with me.He has been my bestfriend since 3rd grade.I know him better than he knows himself.

I sat at my desk and rubbed my temples.

"That can kill you ya know?If you press to hard."Ryan said coming in.

"Well.This case is killing me."He smiled and sat at the desk I have in the corner.

"I know,me too.But Judge is gonna close it soon and leave it for another group."

"That's the thing Ryan.We agreed to help this family and I am going to keep my word."He nodded.

"There is the Kayla I know."I rolled my eyes.

"I just need food."

"There is a new diner down the street.Care to join?"

"Yes!"He laughed and we left.

"So how is the whole wedding thing going?Did she give up already?"I shook my head.

"Nope,I have another date today."He chuckled."I think she just wants me to move out.I mean I saty with her because she is getting old and ever since dad died,she has been lonely."

"I think it is really sweet that you take care of her like that.Why don't you move into the apartment building down the street.Or take her to a nursing home."

"It's too hard for me to stay away.I lost dad and I don't want to lose mom too."He put his hand on my thigh and it felt strange.Sparks flew through my body.I shook the feeling off.

"I understand.Here try this."He handed me his fork with some type of steak on it.I took a bite.

"That is so good!"He smiled.

"I know right."

After brunch we went back to the office to work for a little while.Then I headed home.

"Mom,do I have to go on this date?"

"Yes.Now go,he is here."I kissed her good bye and left.

"So,tell me about yourself Richard."I said over the dinner table.

"Well,I have 8 cars,I am rich,I have 6 kids,I love food.Did I mention,I am rich?"

"I think you did."

"It was terrible Ryan.He was so gross.He ate like a pig,bragged about his money and I wanted to dissapear."

"Eating ice cream doesn't solve your problems Kayla."He took the tub of Ice cream.

"Yes it does."I took it back and began to eat it again."Maybe my mom is right,I will be lonely forever and I will die alone.Ryan,when you see me,do you see the lonely 21 year old who stresses over everything?"He shook his head.

"I see.my bestfriend.Kayla Jones.Smart,young,beautiful,Brave,caring and tough."I looked at him.

"Thank you."I got up."Sorry for putting you through my mental breakdown."He smiled.

"It's fine."He laughed and left.

"Mom!"She came in the room.

"He is a really sweet man."She leaned against the door.

"I know.Goodnight."

"Did you want to talk?"I shook my head.

"I forgot."I lied.

I walked upstairs and lied in my bed.

Do I like Ryan?Does Ryan like me?All those things he said to me,what did it mean.He called me so many nice things.He never says anything bad to or about me.He is sweet.I know he is but what I don't know is if he likes me.But most importantly,Do I like Ryan Marks?

Ryan's POV

I am surprised she hasn't noticed.I am in love with Kayla.I love her so much.Not just because she is my bestfriend,because I see a beautiful,smart,brave girl.I hate to see her go on these dates with all of these random men.

I need to admit how I feel before she fall's in love with someone else.But,you only fall in love once.I have to tell her.

I don't know.

But,I do know,I love Kayla Jones!
