"Alana, I'm not skipping school for this," I state crossly.
"Oh come on! Becca, Andy and me already have everything planned out!" She whines.
"Yea Molly- it's just camping- what could go wrong?" Andy butts in.
"This is exactly what I mean! Andy just completely screwed us over!" I shout, stomping my foot. Becca looks at me through the rear view mirror with a determined squint in her eyes.
"DETOUR!" Becca yells as she makes a u-turn and begins driving in the opposite direction of the school. During the sharp turn, Alana paid the price that came with not wearing her seat belt.
"ALANA!!!" Becca, Andy, and me shout. All we could see was a lump in the street. Becca quickly pulls over to the side of the road and we all get out to go get Alana before she got run over by a car. Andy runs out into the street, while cars honk and swerve around her. We all hold our breathes as she approaches an unmoving Alana. God I hope she's not dead. Becca and me wait anxiously on the side of the street while Andy slowly reaches out to Alana. Please be ok- please be ok- ple- My thoughts are interrupted when Andy gets punched in the throat.
Oh thank god she's alive! I rejoice. Andy leaps back when Alana hits her.
"What the fu-!" Andy yells- but is cut off by the honking of a car.
"Oh- you poor baby! You got touched in the face, while I was THROWN FROM A MOVING VEHICLE!!" Alana screams, as she gets herself up onto her own two feet. "And as for you..." Alana directs her attention to Becca- who gulps nervously. "You can forget about me going camping with you people! Don't even bother with giving me a ride home- I'll just walk to the ER!" Becca cringes at her words.
"Well... Alana- maybe you should just wear a seat belt ne-" I begin lecturing only to have her beady eyes settle on me.
"What was that?" She interrogates, stepping slowly towards me.
"Uhhh... Nothing. Never mind." I quickly cover up. She nods and then begins strutting away- completely unharmed. Since the local hospital was only a block away, Becca, Andy, and me didn't think much about it as we got back into the car. We didn't go after Alana, because... Well... it's apparent she needs some time to cool down.
We continue the drive in silence until Becca finally ends it.
"So- camping. Tell your mom your at my house for the weekend. Pack your stuff. I'll pick you up in about an hour." She demands. Yes- demands!
"You can't just force me to go camping to- heaven knows where- and lie to my mom- and skip school- and be rea-" I rant as all possible scenarios run through my brain.
"Molly. We're already at your house. Just come. It'll be fun- I promise!" Andy pleads in a squeal. I hesitate for a couple minutes- then hang my head solemnly.
"Fine. See you at 10:00." I mumble defeatedly. Both Becca and Andy share a surprised expression, then smile at me- and drive off.
"Ugh!" I throw my arms up in exasperation.
"Why the fuss Molly?" Oh greeeeaat!
" No fuss. Now why aren't you in school Charlie?"
"I could ask you the same thing class-cutter,"
"Well I asked first,"
"So? Don't be so childish."
"Not gonna happen. Move. I need to go inside and your blocking the door," He lifts one eyebrow at me as he leans against the doorframe.
