"I'll give you anything you want, anything your heart desires."
"Anything? For what? What do you want from me?"
"Are you scared, little Kasu?" I hesitated before answering the spirit of Death. "What do you want?" I asked again, studying Death with my emerald eyes. Death finally responded. "The question is, what do you want, Kasu?" I had to think about this, what did I want? I could have anything I want. I wanted followers, and people not to see me as a weak, little girl. "I want.......I want to be strong." Death watched her and laughed. "Strong? What do you mean?" It inquired and I sighed, "I want to be feared, and be seen as a leader, not a weak, little girl whose family hates her." Death spoke again, "Very well, is that all?" It asked. I had already encountered Death multiple times, and I have already asked for everything that I want. "That is all." I said firmly, "What do you want from me? This all can't be free." I knew the most I had ever asked for was the ability to shape-shift, and I was scared to find out the price of what I had asked for. Its answer, was not what I expected, and it scared me. "I want to corrupt your soul." It hissed, it's wraith-like figure moving towards me. I screamed as searing pain tore through me, going to my very soul. I couldn't think straight. "Help." I moaned as I spotted three figures. I slipped out of consciousness, hitting the ground with a dull thud."She's awake." I heard a voice and opened my eye's slowly. There were three people standing around me and I reached for my knife, only to discover that the knife and the sheath were both gone from my leather belt. I was a shape-shifter and I did the only thing I could think of.
I shifted to a puma, lunging at the older of the two males and grabbed his neck in my jaws. I tasted blood but didn't care. I heard him gasp when he hit the ground. I assume the air was knocked out of him, and he was struggling to breath. 'If I kill him,' I thought to myself, 'I could escape.' Something happened though, his form....changed.
He sprouted thick black fur on his neck, arms, legs, everywhere that was visible to my eyes. His mouth and nose lengthened into a muzzle and I no longer held the neck of a boy in my jaws, instead, I held the throat of a snarling wolf. The other two people were standing to the side. There was a girl and a boy. The girl regarded me thoughtfully and I looked up, holding her gaze. I felt a sharp pain in my face and I jumped back hissing.
He had used his claws to deliver a nasty scratch across my face. I shifted back to a human, my expression was of pure anger, but I didn't attack him again. I watched him, wanting to attack him. I usually got into fights, but I knew he could probably kill me. He looked older than me and I knew I would lose in a fight against him. "What are your names?" I inquired, my gaze shifting to the male and female. The female stepped forward. "Azura Lemay." She replied, giving a small nod of her head. The boy I had fought with spoke next. "I am Kinimoto Egaro." He told me. I nodded, acknowledging him and I turned to look at the male who had not spoken. "Akido." He said, "My name is Akido Ericson."
I sighed, "Azura, Kinimoto, and Akido." I repeated. "Got it." I decided to introduce myself. "I am Kasu Ferrell." Kinimoto decided to comment. "Have you ever thought about changing your name?" He inquired, "Maybe Kurisu or Kaylen or-" He was cut off by me. "Kurisu. I like Kurisu." I nodded my head, "I am now Kurisu Ferrell." I announced. I wondered why he asked, but I decided to ask some other time. Kinimoto answered my unasked question. "My name was Kato Egaro, and there is not many people named Kato Egaro. I ran away from home and my mum and dad would do anything to find me and bring me back home, lock me in the house, chain me, abuse me." His voice slightly cracked at the last part and I felt a twinge of pity for him. "So I changed my name, so they wouldn't know who I was. If you run away from home, you can change your name to keep you secret." Kinimoto explained and I nodded. "I guess I will stick to Kasu then, until I decided if I want to run away or not." I was excited to have my name changed, but there was no point in doing it if I was just going to stay at home.
Azura decided to change the subject. "Why are you here, Kurisu? I mean, why were you wandering the streets at this time of night." I shrugged my shoulders. "I just had to get away from my brother, Shadow." I explained and Akido frowned. "Oh. How old are you?" He asked. I wanted to know the reason for him asking, but I didn't comment. Kinimoto looked slightly shocked by my answer. "Eight." Kinimoto nodded slowly. "I am twelve, Azura is ten, and Akido is nine." Azura looked slightly angry. "Thank you, Kini, but I think I am the deputy of this group of rouges, I should be the one telling her all this stuff, not you" I was confused and Azura smirked at my expression, before explaining.
"There are twenty other kids like is. They all ran away from home, and they formed small groups. There are six groups of rouges. They belong to the group known as Eclipse Rouges. Eclipse Rouges are split into two smaller groups, Lunar Rouges and Solar Rouges. You following me?" Azura waited for my response patiently and I nodded. She decided to continue on with the groups of rouges. "Okay there are three groups of rouges in each different sub-group. So three groups of rouges in the Lunar Rouges and three groups in the Solar Rouges." She paused for a breath. "The three Lunar groups are Night, Moon, and Lunar. The three Solar groups are Day, Sun, and Solar." I nodded, encouraging her to continue. "In each group, there is the Leader, deputy guard, and scout. Right now, I am Deputy, Kinimoto is guard, Akido is scout, and Cree is our leader. He is fifteen." I nodded, "How do you become leader?" I inquired and Azura smiled, "That is enough questions for one night, Kasu.
"You can stay with us for the night." Kinimoto offered and glanced at Azura making sure it was alright. Azura gestured to the ground, and I took it as a sign of 'yes.' I lied down on the hard ground. "Thanks." I said, yawning.
I was planning to fall asleep but I was startled when something hit me in the face. It was a pillow, all ratty and messed up. Feathers were sticking out of the various holes the pillow had. I put it under my head. "Night." I mumbled, shutting my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
