Brooke's parents died in a car accident 3 years ago. So she has been living alone since. It's a gloomy Sunday and she had just gotten up from bed when the phone rang.
It was Cory.
Oh my shit.
"Hello Brooke."
"Cory. Um.. hi. Long time no see." She chuckled.
"Yeah. Been 10 years." He was counting too?
she thought to herself."Brooke?" Oops.
"Oh sorry. Just been thinkin."
"Got it. Are you busy?"
"Nope."
"Well I flew in to see you. How about you come to the airport and we'll catch up over macaroons?"
"I'd love to."
"Okay that's awesome. See you soon Brooke."
"Yup." She was just about to hang up.
"Wait!"
"Yes?"
"I still love you." Holy crap.
"I still love you too."
He still loves me. A decade later.
We speak as if no time has passed.
These are the kind of things that bring a smile to my face.
