It was a simple supply run. There was no reason for it to be dangerous enough to be life threatening. It shouldn't have been.
Key word: shouldn't.
I shivered as I felt a wave of cold crash into me. Saying it was freezing would be an understatement. Obi-Wan and I, including a few clone troopers, pulled too early out of hyperspace because of a hyperdrive malfunction. We can't identify it, so the search for supplies, and help, began on the closest planet there was.
But why did it have to be on the outer reaches of the galaxy, freezing cold? Is this the force's version of karma or something?
I remember Obi-Wan telling me about this place, but I can't pronounce it's name. The temperatures could descend to well below the freezing point. Luckily, there were some heat jackets for this type of situation in the medical bay, but they will only stay warm for a few hours, so we had to be quick about it. Once the jackets were distributed, we set of to find civilization.
The bitter gusts of freezing wind bit at my face. My lips were chapped, and the feeling in my feet was beginning to disappear. Walking became an extreme effort, and I won't last for much longer. The jackets would stop working soon.
And then I saw a miracle. A cave, just in the distance, about 100 yards away. "Obi," I tapped his shoulder furiously.
"What? What is it?" I pointed in the direction of the cave, his eyes brightening. "You're brilliant." I blushed as he ordered everyone to head in that direction, fighting against the wind.
Once inside, we all sat down, waiting for the wind to die down. But we were on a time limit, there wasn't room for waiting. After a while, we were standing up again, walking around to keep us moving. I was so lost in my own thoughts I wandered away from the group with Obi trailing close behind.
All of a sudden, a large quake shook the ground, causing me to jump. I heard a loud rumbling, and I looked up. Above, there were rocks that were barely holding on. They were going to fall.
Right on top of Obi-Wan.
He didn't even notice it.
Without thinking, I ran up to him and pushed him out of the way, out of the path of raining rocks. I was not so lucky. The force of the impact of the rocks hitting the icy ground threw me backwards off of my feet.
When the dust cleared, all I could see was a giant wall and a dead end.
I was trapped.
"Y/n!" I could hear Obi shouting my name. "Y/n! Are you alright?"
I painfully stood up, brushed off the remaining dust, and yelled back, "I'm fine!" My voice trembled, hopefully he didn't notice.
I lied. I was not fine. The space was small, dark, and now enclosed. Claustrophobia was my worst enemy right now. My breathing started to quicken. No. Not here, not now. I will not panic. I need to find a way out.
As I scanned the space, I started to form plans, but they all were losses. I couldn't dig my way through, the rocks were too big and heavy to lift. They're too icy to climb, and I don't have a lightsaber cause I'm not a Jedi.
I have now come to a conclusion:
I'm screwed.
"Y/n!"
"Obi!" I could hear him arguing with the clone troopers. I couldn't figure out what they were saying. After a long pause, he spoke again.
"We're going to find help! We'll be back as quickly as possible."
"Can't you use your lightsaber?" I asked.
"It can't penetrate through, don't ask me how." But that's, that's impossible, right?
"Please, be careful."
I could practically hear Obi smiling. "Don't worry about me. You have to stay as warm as you can, understand?"
"Yeah." I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to do that, but I have to.
"We'll come back for you. I'll come back for you. I promise." And then there was silence. He was gone. A few moments later I was pacing the cave. My gloved hands rubbed up and down my arms. Had it gotten colder? I sighed, my foggy breath clearly visible.
A few minutes later, I noticed my hands start to go numb. No matter how much I rubbed them together, I couldn't warm them up. I couldn't warm anything up. The jackets! The heat is starting to disappear. This isn't good. I just hope that Obi-Wan can keep his promise.
A little while later, I've lost the feeling in my hands and almost all of my toes. It's spreading. I'm shaking slightly. Walking becomes an effort, as well as breathing. If this continues, I might have a few hours. Maybe less.
I've lost track of time. It seemed like every second was an eternity. It was getting colder by the second. With every minute that passed, the heat, provided from the jacket, was slowly fading away. It was only a matter of time before there would be no more.
I looked at my reflection in the ice. But who I saw wasn't me. My lips were blue, having lost all color, my skin pale, my eyelashes and eyebrows dusted over with frost. It was so cold. Most of my body was numb, and I tried closing my eyes in an attempt to sleep, but there was just no way. I didn't want to freeze my eyes shut.
Another while. The jacket has lost all heat, the only source now being my own body. I was hopelessly sitting on the floor against the cave wall, trembling viciously. I knew that there wasn't much time for me left. Obi-Wan still hasn't returned. My eyelids began to get heavy, but I did my best to keep them open. I'm losing the battle.
"Come on, she's this way..."
Wait, what was that? I sure didn't say it. Maybe I'm just hearing things. I can't trust any of my senses right now. I can barely think.
But then I heard it again. And again. Getting louder each time. And as my eyes slowly closed, the last thing I saw was the wall coming apart.
Part 2 anyone? And any requests for Kylo would be great.
