Her body was cold.
Noah had refused to leave her side since the incident. Despite the fact that it was impossible, he held out hope that she was alive. Her family had all tried to pull him away so they could lay her to rest. At one point, his beast took over and chased them all out of her room and down to the end of the hall. Whenever they tried to come any closer than that, he'd growl at them.
To him, his little mate was not dead. It just didn't feel possible for her to be dead. They didn't have enough time together. Plus, she was the Great Fae! She shouldn't just be able to die like that, it wasn't right. He couldn't help but wonder that if she was supposed to save the world, why did she die?
His hand brushed her limp blonde tresses back behind her ear, again. It was an action he couldn't help but do since he'd brought her up here. She had no color left to her skin, her veins seeming to glow in the bright sunlight that filtered in through the window.
Gently, as if to not disturb her, he climbed up onto the bed next to her. Laying on his back, he fell asleep feeling like he was guarding her body until she returned.
In her tower, Alice laid motionless upon the bed. A warm and comforting aura surrounded her. A feather light touch gently opened her eyes. Alice gasped from the sudden light that flooded her brain. After several months of silence and darkness, here she was finally able to see.
A white silhouette stood in next to the bed. Alice couldn't tell who it was, but she felt safe so she knew that they posed no danger to her. She watched as the figure sat down on the edge of the bed, dropping it's head into it's hands.
I'm so sorry this happened to you, a voice resonated in her mind.
This isn't anyone's fault but mine.
That is what everyone will believe, but I know that there was a way around it. Don't torture yourself with this, Alice.
How-how do you know my name?
That is not the major problem right now. I came to warn you.
Warn me? Warn me of what? Alice was so confused. She had so many questions, but she got the feeling that they would go unanswered.
Tragedy awaits you. Your strength will be tested greatly in the next few months. But if you stick it through, a greater fate will come.
Then, before Alice could say anything more, the white light dimmed out. That soft touch came again and shut her eyes while the voice whispered an apology into her mind. Alice felt the presence leave and tension slowly seeped back into her body.
What did it mean by her strength being tested? How could her life get worse than being a doll for the man that had taken her? How could it be worse than having to lay trapped in her own body at the hands of Demons?
Tears tumbled down her cheeks, but she could do nothing to wipe them away. Footsteps sounded on the stairs outside of her room. That dark and overwhelming power settled over her immediately after the door slammed open.
"How is my little doll doing?"
The Demon Prince opened her eyes and stared into them. In the second before she realized what she was seeing, he saw hope in them before it was smothered. Was it hope? He thought so, but he was not sure. The white light that had hid once adjusted to his gaze could only have been hope. That or the presence that had overtaken his maid just a day before.
Alice summoned her courage and turned her harsh glare upon the man that held her hostage within herself. He bristled and his anger made his presence seem that much larger. When her glare didn't lessen, he whistled loudly and looked to the door. Alice's eyes darted over to the entrance when a figure stepped into the frame of it. The air suddenly seemed much cooler.
