"Sir," the general of the Royal Guard rushed up to the King the next morning while the entire household sat around the table. He was dirtied and out of breath, his eyes wild with fear, though none of the occupants of the table had no idea why he was in such a state. The King wiped his mouth of the crumbs and turned to the man.

"Yes, Luca, what is it?"

"The other male from yesterday's confrontation got away. We cannot locate him, even with our best trackers."

Everyone froze. "Then there is a threat on the Princess' life still."

Rapunzel frowned down at her food. She could tell yesterday that he was much more powerful than anyone she'd yet to come across. He'd been careful not to make skin contact as if aware that she'd absorb his powers if he had. Her mind whirled as she tried to remember if she had sensed his species while in his grasp.

Her frown deepened when she realized that she hadn't picked up anything.

Noah's hand clutched hers. She looked up to find him barely keeping it together, his eyes pitch black and his muscles locked up. With a flurry of movement, Rapunzel burst out of her seat and sat herself in his lap, winding his arms around her waist and tucking his head into the crook of her neck. He stopped shaking violently and took deep breathes of her scent into his lungs. She was pulled against his chest as he tightened the grip he had on her.

"We'll have to raise the amount of security for her. If he can disappear without a trace, he can appear just as easily in the midst of the castle, or even right next to her. I won't take any chances when it comes to the protection of my daughter!" The King ordered, his voice rising with his anger.

The guard nodded, rushing off to deliver orders to the rest of the Royal Guard. Lucio's jaw was clenched, his hands shaking. Rapunzel knew that she couldn't stand up from Noah's hold because she was the only thing keeping him from flying off the handle and losing control. She sent her mother a pleading look, begging her to comfort her father since she was unable to herself.

Iridia took one of her mate's hands and pressed it to her cheek, grabbing his attention and calming the storm that raced inside of him.  The Royal Couple took their leave, needing time and space to calm down. Their daughter was in danger and they couldn't do anything about it because the man behind it was missing, gone without a trace.

Eldric cursed and slammed his fists onto the table, causing his sister to jump. The Prince ran his fingers through his blonde hair while more curses fell from his lips. He had a feeling that the man was a Demon, though he couldn't explain why he felt that way. There had been something dark about the man, as if he knew too much and felt even more. Eldric had only come across one Demon before, and they had had that same look in their eyes.

He scowled and stormed from the room. If the man truly was a Demon, they had no chance of keeping Rapunzel safe. Should the man desire to take her, there would be nothing they could do to stop it from happening. Demons had the ability to teleport to wherever they desire, and they can take anyone with them by simple contact, even if it isn't skin to skin. Also, they had honed the ability of possession, being able to slip into someone's mind and control actions or just watch and learn. Demons were the hardest species to defeat because they could be inside anyone's mind, just watching plans form and doing what they will to cause the plans to fail.

"I can't lose you," Noah whispered, his voice raspy from the fear and anger he felt. His hold on his mate grew stronger, pinning her against him in an attempt to calm his wolf.

Rapunzel's eyes welled with tears, her own head tucking under his chin, holding him just as tight as he held her. "I will always come back to you, Noah. You've slowly but surely become my everything. I can't walk away now unless it is to save you."
