For Better or For Worse

Chapter 1: Pancakes

"Hey girls who wants pancakes?" Jenna's mom asked. 

"I want some!" Jenna shouted while running down the stairs. She slid on her skeleton slippers even though it was late June. Everyone knew that Jenna loved anything halloween. No matter what season .  

"What do you want on your pancakes ?" Mom asked. 

"Sugar and butter!" Jenna replied happily. 

"Okay, I'll get the sugar and butter. I'll be back in a sec."  

In a while, Jenna was eating her suggary pancakes and Skylar came running down the stairs. 

"Sorry, I overslept." Skylar said in a rush while putting on an orange fuzzy robe. 

"It's alright, but your pancakes are slightly cold." Mom said while slurping her morning coffee. 

"It's fine. "  

We sat down at the table, except for dad, he had already left for work. 

After we'd finished, mom cleared up the dishes and the milk.  

"Girls, you better get ready for school now. I'm not driving you." Mom said while putting the dishes in the sink. 

Skylar and Jenna raced up the stairs to the bathroom.  

Skylar brushed her hair and teeth and washed her face. Jenna changed her clothes and prepared her backpack. Then they switched. And finally they put on their makeup.

"You are late for class. Please take a seat and flip to page 98 in your history textbooks." Mr. Daniero said.  

"I'm sorry. I missed the bus." Jenna said while taking her seat. 

Mr.Daniero wrote assignments on the chalk board and everyone took notes.

"Where have you been, Jenna?I didn't see you at the bus stop." Anisha asked while munching chips. 

"Well Skylar and I took longer than usual to put on makeup and get ready so yeah." Jenna replied while drinking Sweet Tea. 

"So did you buy that new lipstick yet?" 

"Of course I did." Jenna replied.

"BREAKING NEWS! Call your family members to watch this important story."  

"What? Skylar come watch the news with me!" Jenna called in alarm. 

"What's the big idea? News is boring." Skylar said while she came in the living room

"BREAKING NEWS: 16 year old boy in Houston ,Texas was murdered in his home last night at 9. Investigators are still searching for evidence. We know his name is Andrew Paebon."

Skylar and Jenna gasped.  

"Andrew Paebon is in our class!" Skylar exclaimed. 

"Oh my gosh! Who did it?" Jenna wondered. 

"The cops don't know Jenna. How do you think I would know?" Skylar said in frustration. 

"I wasn't really asking you, Sky. I'm just wondering aloud." 

"No one knows who did it, so we'll have to find out ourselves." Skylar said with determination.
