"AUSTIN!!" I started to scream as I was dragged down deep in the huge wave.

After a few seconds I came up again, gasping for air.

I quickly looked around for Austin before I was dragged under once again.

Okay McKenna, I told myself, in order to stay alive you have to grab ahold of something.

The second time I came up out of the water I saw a palm tree about 5 feet away.

I used all of my strength to go to the tree and I held on as tight as possible, trying my best not to get dragged under once again.

*AUSTIN'S POV*

Well what a great vacation this is huh? I said to myself.

After the wave came in I quickly grabbed the doorway to a near building to prevent myself from getting swept away.

I looked around from McKenna and realized, to my horror, that we had been separated.

I reached into my pocket for my phone and pulled it out fast, trying to get it to turn on.

Once I realized that it wasn't gonna turn on I put it away and sat there thinking about how I'm going to find her and get to her.

*MCKENNA'S POV*

I've been here holding onto this palm tree for maybe ten minutes when the wave started to go back to the ocean.

I looked to my right and saw a young child, maybe three or four, struggling to stay above the water while she gets dragged out to sea.

"GRAB MY HAND!!" I yelled to her.

Surprised, she looked over at me and I pulled her into my arms once I had a good grip on her hand.

"What's your name?" I asked her.

"Max." She told me.

"Where's your family?"

"I don't have one."

After thinking about it for a minute I said:

"Max, how would you like to be apart of MY family?"

She looked at me in shock before slowly nodding her head up and down.

"Do you know how old you are?" I asked her.

"4 I think..."

Once the water went down I let go of the palm tree and carried Max on my hip as I desperately searched for Austin.

*AUSTIN'S POV*

After a while I let go of the doorway and I started walking through the town/city as I looked for McKenna.

I repeatedly shouted for her as other people shouted for others that they were missing.

"MCKENNA!" I screamed as I ran up to who I thought was her.

The woman turned around, gave me a sympathetic look, and walked away.

Welp, that wasn't McKenna...

Austin, I told myself, she's probably dead...

No!, I silently argued with myself, no she's not.

But is she???...
