Jon got back in his car and hung the necklace over the rearview mirror; he started the engine and pulled out of the dirt lot back onto the road. He started driving in the direction of the hospital where Zach was. He started thinking about how was he was going to get Zach to talk and when he did what was going to happen to him? Would he punish him or leave him be, let him think?

Jon was thinking so much, when he finally returned all his attention to the road all the brush and trees and the lines on the road were whizzing past him he looked down at the speedometer which read a hundred and ten. Jon slowed to the speed limit knowing at this speed he was twice as far as he thought and the town would be coming up soon.

When he reached the hospital he took the necklace off his mirror and walked in, he walked right up to the elevator with an expression of severe anger and clutching the necklace in his hand letting the pendant and tags hang and ting together as he walked. When the elevator stopped on Zach’s floor he walked out towards Zach’s room. There was a medical chart in the middle of the hall and Jon snatched up an empty syringe just in case. As he got closer to Zach’s room the officer that had been there earlier was gone and Zach was sleeping. Jon stopped in the doorway and looked at him for a minute then walked in and sat in the chair next to the bed. He looked down and rested his elbows on his knees and his forehead on his palms.

Zach rolled and woke up slowly looking at Jon sitting there; Zach smiled slightly thinking his friend had been there for a while. Then he noticed the necklace hanging from Jon’s hand. He began wondering if that was what he thought it was and how Jon had found out or rather how much he knew. Zach now panicking rolled back over and pretended to sleep again.

Jon looked up just as Zach rolled the other way and decided he would give Zach one more nights rest, Jon leaned back turned sideways propped his feet up on the arm of the chair and leaned his head against the wall that was now behind him and slowly dazed off thinking of how he was going to get Zach to talk.

Jon woke up quick and shook off his daze feeling; looking up at the clock it was only seven in the morning he had arrived there late last night around midnight but for some odd reason he wasn’t the slightest tired right now. He stood up looking down at Zach and was relieved he was still asleep. The guard was back outside and was asleep also. Jon decided he would try to be nice to get the answers he sought and went to the cafeteria and got some breakfast for Zach. When he got back to the room Zach was awake.

“Hey there, I thought you might be hungry,” Jon held out the tray with one hand and shoved the necklace in his pocket with the other.

“Oh hey there man, did you stay all night?” Zach said reaching for the tray.

“Uh, yea, I got here and you were asleep I wanted to talk but I let you sleep,” Jon walked over to the chair that he slept in.

“Well thanks, so what did you wanna talk about?” Zach was shoveling food into his mouth with one hand and clicking on the TV with his other hand.

“Oh…uh I just wanted to let you know I’ve found out some things about the girls and I might know where they are,” Jon was reaching into his pocket for the necklace.

“Oh really and where do you think they are?” Zach’s mouth was full of food and he was a little hard to understand.

“I’m not sure exactly where they are but I have a few ideas. I also found some things that point to a person who should know exactly where they are.” Jon got the necklace and was holding it in his hands once again

“Oh yea and what did you find?” this time Zach was in between bites

“I found this,” Jon turned the TV off and hung the necklace in front of Zach’s face.

Zach swallowed hard and just stared at it a moment; Jon started swinging it back and forth and while staring at it Jon started talking again.

“It looks just like your dads,” Jon had no expression on his face but had a dark and calm tone, “but it couldn’t be that’s just not possible, now is it?” Jon was still staring at the necklace that was swinging in front of Zach’s face. “Then I got to thinking, and it must be but that’s not even the best part,” Jon stopped swinging the necklace and pulled it back up into his hand then snapped his gaze to Zach, “I found a picture of us and your dad at this little house. I decided to take a look at it and there was blood and Bonnie's shirt on the floor of the house,” he looked Zach right in the eyes. “Where are the girls Zach?”

Zach swallowed hard again and his eyes were filled with fear staring into what felt like the eyes of a monster. He knew he couldn’t talk his way out of this one and Jon knew too much to bullshit him.

“The girls,” Zach looked down at the bed sheets, “are now at a warehouse on the other side of town. If you take my phone and hold down two, the man who picks up will tell you the address.”

Jon looked at him and some of his anger faded. He looked into his eyes and saw a helpless scared pathetic coward; Zach looked up and meet his gaze, he felt better now seeing the sympathy in his friends eyes, then a picture of the girls flashed in Jon eyes and all sympathy flowed out and was instantaneously replaced with anger once again. Zach saw this sudden change in his eyes and Zach felt scared, extremely scared, scared for his life. Jon grabbed the syringe out of his pocket and pulled the handle back to create a little air bubble in the tip, as he reached for Zach’s IV he started speaking in a soft and sweet yet creepy and horrid tone.

“When this little air bubble reaches your heart you will die,” Jon inserted the needle into the hose on the IV and slide the top end of the syringe down to push the air bubble into the tube he pulled the syringe out and put it back in his pocket and looked at Zach. Jon could see the fear and shock in his eyes, he got a sick pleasure from it and smiled. He started walking out the door.

“I’m sorry,” Zach said his final words; Jon paused for a second not looking back. Zach laid down accepting his fate.

Jon walked to the elevator and when he was about half way there he could hear all of the machines in Zach’s room going off; this brought a smile to his face as all the doctors and nurses ran into the room trying everything they could to save him. Jon was already in the elevator and he felt powerful, his heart was calm but he felt a rush, he loved this feeling the feeling of power and the rush it brought; he wanted more.

The elevator doors closed and you could hear the EKG machine in Zach’s room reach a flat line, he was dead.
