Jackson's POV:

School ended. The day went by in a breeze. I was walking alone out of school, until Anya looked at me and smiled. I smiled back at her. Then her group went up to her and walked with her out of school. Her friends Luci and Alex were staring at me. Then Luci gave me a small smile and walked away, holding hands with Alex.

I walked back to my house in about 30 minutes. I was looking for my keys in my backpack, until the door opened and stood a little boy, smiling up at me. My little brother Max.

"Hey Jackson!" yelled my baby brother as he wrapped his tiny chubby arms tightly around my neck.

"Hey Max," I said hugging him back.

"Welcome back son," said my dad.

"Sup little turd," said my older brother.

"Hey Jake."

I went upstairs to my room, and saw a picture of my mom holding me as a baby.

"Hey mom."

Flashback

Me, my dad, and my older brother were in the waiting room. My mom was going to deliver our new baby brother, Max.

The doctor came into the waiting room with a sad face.

"What happened? Is something wrong with the baby?" my dad asked.

The doctor looked at my dad and said, "The baby's fine. It's your wife."

My dad followed the doctor back to my mom's room. I was crying and my older brother tried to comfort me.

"It's okay, Jackson. Mom is going to be fine."

But nothing was working. Then my dad came out of mom's room with tears coming out of his eyes. My dad never cried, but him crying meant that something was completely wrong.

"Boys, your mother is dead," my dad said with more tears coming out.

I ran to my mom's room and hugged her as tight as I can.

"No! Please mom wake up! You can't die now! You didn't even get to see the baby! Please wake up!"

Jake held me back and hugged me. My tears kept coming and my face felt hot.

My dad bent down to kiss my mom's forehead, picked her up, and hugged her for the last time.

My older brother cried into my hair and I cried into his chest. Then I heard the baby crying next to mom.

I pulled away from Jake's arms and walked to the baby. This is the last reminder of mom.

Flashback ends

It's been 6 years since mom died. Max grew up not really knowing his mother. My dad tries no to talk about it.

I really miss mom. But I guess you can say that Anya reminds me of her. Anya is really nice and caring, just like my mom. Anya is short, but lovable, just like my mom. That's what made me attracted to Anya.
