The Pool

We walked down a swirling staircase to a darker part of the bar. It had floating lanterns along the ceiling with a dim flame in them that peacefully lit up the room.

In the room were pool tables but not really pool tables. There was a silver cage on top of the tables and I could see why. We walked closer to one of the tables and I noticed that the balls were baby dragons. They would fight over the hole they wanted to go into.

"Woah, this is the most intense game of billiards I've ever seen" I mention, with wide eyes.

"You played pool back home?" Finn asks me.

"Yeah, I have a pool table back home but not anything like this"

He smiles back, "I'm glad you're on my team then" I noticed that I really loved his smile. It wasn't fake, and seemed to be so bright and sincere.

We walk over to an empty table where nobody was playing.

"So how this works" Steph starts to explain, "is that first you pick the blue or green dragons. How you make them move is similar to pool with these sticks" He grabs one of the pool sticks that had a latch attached to it, "and you pull this latch that makes fire come out. You have to aim the pool stick with the fire to show them where to go. How hard you swing the stick is how far they go, got it?"

"I think so" I reply with wrinkled eyebrows.

"Let's just play and she'll see how it goes" Miranda rushes excitedly.

"What color do you guys want?" Steph asks us.

"Whatever Finn thinks is going to make us win" I grin.

Finn looks down at me from his height; he was tall, "I think we should go with blue then"

Steph grabbed one of the pool sticks and blew fire in the middle of the table. All of the dragons lined up correctly and I wondered how much they had to get taught to do that. I felt bad for them.

I think Finn noticed what I was thinking because he whispered, "The dragons are fine, they don't get harmed or anything like that. This is like dragon school for them, you'll find out another time" Except I didn't know when that other time would be.

Finn broke the dragons and they rolled all over the table. I could tell the dragons had fun when they rolled, you could just see it; it looked as if they were smiling slightly.

Next up was Miranda, "You're going down, roomie" She smirks at me and grabs a pole. She shoots for a green one and makes it into a pocket. The dragon jumps up and flies into the pocket, "How'dya like me now"

She misses on her second turn, but also setting me up in a good position.

I grab a stick and start to aim, but become confused, "How does this latch thingy work?" In a split of a moment Finn is right behind me.

He grabs my hand very softly and carefully puts it on the latch with his own. Then he spoke right into my ear, "You have to aim and switch the top trigger at the same time you pull the lever on the bottom"

I could barely hear anything he said, another guy never had been this close to me before. I could hear my heart thumping in my head, and really hoped that he didn't.

His hands were warmer than mine which was unbelievable since I was always hot and sweaty. He pulled the trigger for me with my hands on top of the both trigger and lever. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

After I saw that we missed the pocket, I quickly squirmed away from him embarrassed. Miranda noticed and gave me wiggly eyebrows. I went over to her and touched her with my sweaty hands.

"Eww gross!" She laughed. She wiped them back on me, "Why are you so sweaty?"

I shrug my shoulders, "I get it from my dad, he was like that too when he was younger"

All of us were just talking and chilling out playing pool. It was so fun for my first time away from home and I'm glad I met all the people I did.

I glanced over at Finn for a second and he noticed; he smiled back his charming smile, when I noticed it. I don't know how I hadn't before. It was a long scar from the end of his jawline down to his collarbone. His black coat was off, I guess that's how I noticed it. It was a terrible scar, one that looked like it would've killed a normal human.

He noticed I was looking at it and turned away and grabbed his neck. I felt bad for staring but I can't help it sometimes when I see something like that. Now I felt bad because I made him self-conscious when I knew he didn't have to be.

"Summer!?"

I heard my name from the doorway of the pools and turn to look. It was Phoebe. She was going to kill me for being in a place like this.

"Summer, what the hell?" She started, walking up to me. I had a bad feeling about this.

"Phoebe, I can explain" I replied, nervously.

"Yeah, you're going to do a lot more than that"
