Nightmare

Chapter Six

------------

I couldn't get her out of my head. That girl that appeared earlier. She seemed to be the most unique girl I'd ever seen. Her cheek bones were high, but not too high, and her hair was white with hints of grey. Her hair also looked like it had been burned on the tips. She looked very young. Almost as young as Bree. The girl's face reminded me of a child's. The soft newborn-baby feeling of a child's skin and the child like features of smaller eyes and tiny lips, that went along with a small head. Her eyes were black. Just black. No white, no other color. She interested me. I remembered that moment so well. I needed to see her. The only question was, "how?" That seemed to be the most common question. Not only from in my head, but when people were to ask me things. I couldn't help but wonder why? There was always the same answers to "why", too. It was either actually "why",as well, or "I don't know." Sometimes people tried to explain why things were the way they were in their own opinion without any specific scientific explanation. These answers seemed to always be as wrong as every other answer I got that wasn't proven scientifically. Then again, niether was being a vampire.

I dragged my lazy self up to the attic where I saw nobody. He shook his head and sat on the comfortable bed. Well, it was comfortable to him at least. He liked the feel of beds that sunk in as he laid down. He hated the solid feel, and hated the too soft feel as well. His sheets and blankets were torn and in bad shape. Adrian got used to it and learned to love it.

He rested his head onto the mattress as he laid there, sprawled out like a dog who had just came from outside and it had been a hot day. He slowly closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.

Adrian woke up with a sudden thud. His eyes opened quicker than his jaw could drop. The girl, was sitting at the foot of his bed. Her hair was frizzy now. It actually looked sort of pretty. The girl's expression was a mysterious one. She stared at him the moment he let out a noise that sounding more like an "uh." Which was what he was trying to go for. Her right eyebrow raised in confusion.

"H-hi." He tried to say, but ended up stuttering.

"Hi." Her voice was a little high-pitched, but didn't have a child-like sort of tone. It was more of like Bree's tone. "The early teenage tone", as I call it. I heard her sigh.

"I'm Adrian." I greeted her, trying to be friendly while also trying to spike up a conversation.

"I'm Hailey." I remembered that same.

"Oh. I knew a girl named Hailey." I said uncomforting.

"I'm her." She smiled at me. I blushed like crazy when she did. Something about her smile.

"I thought you passed on?" I asked her, shocked as ever.

"I had to fake my death when becoming this." She looked down.

"Don't worry, at least I'm one person who knows how hard being this way is." I hugged her with one arm.

"Adrian?" I nodded at her.

"Yes?"

"Is the witch still around?" She looked up at me.

"When is she not?"

"Right." Hailey smiled. It felt so weird talking to somebody you hadn't in a long time. Especially somebody you thought was dead for so long.

"Why did you leave? You didn't have to?" I wondered about that.

"I needed to leave. You will need to, also." She answered.

"What?" I was surprised.

"If you want to keep your family safe." She added.

"I'll only keep Bree safe. That's it. I'm keeping her with me, too."

"Planning on turning her?" She asked him.

"Yeah."
