Save Me

Chapter 19

Surprise, Again?

{Ofelia's Pov}

I sat on the soft picnic blanket under a beautiful Weeping Willow tree. I sat on my back and stared up at the leaves that hung down. The scene was breathtaking. The sun shone down through the branches and was scattered across the finely cut grass. It was warm outside with a warm breeze. The small gust of wind moved the skirt to my brand new dress. My flats sat next to me on the grass. The cold chain was hooked around my neck, the small charm laying right on my heart. I sighed and turned my head. I smiled at the boy with the bowl haircut and bright blue eyes staring at me.

"Ian, this is beautiful." I breathed. Nothing could ruin this day.

"Well, what better way to show how much I love being your friend." Ian said and smiled slightly. My body tensed.

Friend.

Is that all we'll ever be?

Is that what I want us to be?

No.

I want to be more than that.

But is this the right moment?

Should I tell him?

Would he care?

Would he laugh?

Would he love me back?

I sat up and fiddled with my hands in my lap. Ian also sat up.

"Ofelia, is everything okay?"

I took a deep breathe before facing Ian.

"H-hey Ian, c-can I tell you something?"

Butterflies erupted within my stomach. My breathe hitched in my throat and my palms became sweaty.

"You can tell me anything." He said looking at me worriedly.

This is it.

"Ian, I l-"

I was cut off by my phone ringing loudly. One Direction's 'Rock Me' once again blared through my phone. I sighed and picked up my phone.

'Stupid Fucking Phone!' I shouted mentally at the inanimate object. I checked the ID but it only read an unfamiliar phone number. My brows scrunched together in confusion.

"Is everything okay?" Ian asked for the second time as he tried to look at my phone.

"Y-yeah, just a sec." I said standing up. I stepped out from inside the tree's comforting environment. The warm sun was beating down on my exposed shoulders. I quickly answered my phone and walked over to a nearby tree.

"Hello?" I asked into the phone. I was shocked by the voice I heard on the other end.

"Ofelia! I'm so glad you picked up! How are you today?" He asked in his usual smooth voice. My teeth gritted together. He ruined my chance to tell Ian.

"What do you want with me, Dominick?"

"Aw, babe, don't be so mad. You know what? I know someone who could make to feel so much better! Well, pleasure you, at the least." He exclaimed into the phone, his kindness obviously fake. I decided to just go along with the stupid act so I could go back to Ian.

"Who?" I asked resting all of my weight on my left foot. I hadn't noticed I was barefoot until I felt the warm grass between my toes.

"Your dad."

My body completely froze.

No. No no no.

I haven't seen my dad in... 6... 7... 8 years! And I never plan on seeing him again.

I shuddered when I remembered the news Matt had given me.

My dad. He escaped.

He's roaming this world as we speak.

Doing as he pleases.

"M-m-my d-dad?!" I exclaimed it it he phone.

"Yup, surprise..."

Someone'a cold hand clamped onto my shoulder. A hand covered my mouth before I could scream.

"Stop squirming." Dominick's voice rang through my ears as he led me to a van not to far from where I was sanding. I struggled to get free from his strong grasp. There was bound to be a mark on my arm left my his strong hands. In front of me, I caught a glimpse of Ian with shock filling his body. He began to charge at Dominick and me. I lashed and screamed and cheered for Ian. Dominick's hand moved from my mouth to around my body. With his other hand... he pulled out a gun. Ian immediately stopped as it was pointed in his direction.

I continued to squirm in his grip.

"LET. ME. GO!" I screamed as I freed my hand. I began to pound on his side.

Bad idea.

In a swift movement, the gun was now pushed into the side of my head. This is actually happening! I'm being kidnapped! I'm being taken back to my dad! He's going to beat me for escaping! Or even worse...

I shook the thought from my mind. I had to deal with the situation at hand. There was nothing I could do. If I move, I get shot. If Ian moves, I get shot. I'm being taken away, no matter what.

How the heck is no one seeing this?!

Fresh tears pricked my eyes.

Ian's eyes filled with fear as they landed on me. He stood there, confused on what to do as Dominick pushed me into the van. Before the door slammed shut, I screamed something that I should've said a long time ago.

"I LOVE YOU, IAN HECOX!"
