I woke up to see the bed empty, I jumped up worried about Matt and Freya, and my instincts were on high. I pulled myself off the bed and jogged downstairs to the kitchen where I heard music playing from our installed speakers. I slowed down trying to look relaxed as I shoved open the door to show Freya sitting at the breakfast bar with a bowl of cereal in front of her and Bennie begging at her feet, I looked up more to see Matty standing over the stove and I felt my whole body relax far more now I knew they were both okay. “Hey Joshy, we were going to bring you breakfast in bed as Freya told me she crawled into our bed early this morning waking you up again.” Matt welcomed me and explained as I kissed Freya on the forehead and she hugged me, then I made my way to Matt pulling him into my arms from behind.
“Hey handsome, that’s alright.” I replied still feeling on edge after my restricted hours of sleep.
“Babe, are you okay? You’re all tense; we’re okay… you need to just relax. Take a deep breath or Freya will worry!” Matt whispered in my ear lightly as I kissed his neck and sighed seeing how easy it was for Matt to know I was stressed out.
“I just didn’t sleep well, I know I’m trying. I seriously thought something was wrong when I woke up to an empty bed. I just freaked out, I’m fine now I know you’re both safe!” I explained and Matt turned around kissing me quickly before Freya saw and mouthed, “I love you Joshy.”
“I love you so damn much Matty,” I mouthed back and kissed him on the lips again longing to be closer to him but stopped myself knowing Freya was in the same room.
“Daddy, are you each other’s ever after?” Freya asked curiously rising from the breakfast bar and walking into our embrace squirming to climb in between us both as I picked her up so her legs were wrapped round my waist and I had my arm round Matty’s waist. “Well, Princess Matty is my ever after…” I went to say before Matt cut me off, “…and he is my perfect disaster.” I smiled as Freya smiled looking back and forth between us. Moments like this I would always treasure, family moments where it was just Matty, Freya and I happy and together. I couldn’t really ask for anything more. The phone started to ring and Freya leaped down running to get the phone in the hall, “hello?” I heard her answer the phone and both of us chuckled at her phone voice. She ran back in passing the phone to me, “its Auntie Meghan!” She informed me and Matt picked her up taking her through to the longue as I answered the phone, “Hey Meghan, what’s up?” I said to her music blasting out from the other side of the phone.
“Hey Joshua, do you mind if I pop round with the twins as Mike is going out with his dad and I need some advice?” Meghan asked.
“Course, come over right now if you want.” I answered.
“That’s perfect because I’m at the top of your road now, see you in a few.”
“Meghan, you shouldn’t be on the phone while driving!” I teased her.
“Shut up Ramsay!” She shouted and then I heard the dial tone. I chuckled walking to put the phone back in the hall then joining Matty and Freya in the living room to see Beauty and the Beast starting to play. Matt’s head lifted when I sat next to them on the sofa. “What did Meghan want?” He asked smiling as I kissed both of their foreheads.
“Mike’s going out so she’s bringing the twins over and needs to ask for some advice,” I explained as Freya shushed us as the film started. Freya quickly became transfixed on the TV screen as I heard the doorbell ring, Matt and I jumped up to answer the door. I opened the door to show Meghan in a yellow summer dress trying to hold two diaper bags and with two car carriers at her feet. I quickly picked the twins up as I beckoned her in with Matt taking her bags. “Hey boys,” she announced as she walked in smiling at us as Freya ran out and into her arms for a massive hug, “Hey my little princess how are you?” Meghan questioned as she had become a mum to Freya since forever and they loved one another’s company making Matt and I smile at the sight. “Good, come on… come one!! Beauty and the beast have just started, come on!” Freya shouted and dragged Meghan towards the living room as I picked up Lacy and Matty picked up Ethan and we followed them both in. Lacy was in a giggly mood as I sat down and started to play peek-a-boo with her receiving a delighted giggle and an adorable grin as Matty sat down next to me with Ethan who looked as though he would quickly fall asleep snuggled into Matty’s chest, I looked up to see Meghan staring at us admiringly, “what?” I questioned curiously.
