"It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter."
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit"How did you do that?" I questioned as he pulled me away around a few corners and threw a couple hallways till we reached a part of the school that was disserted. I tore my arm from his grip and took a step back so I was out of his reach.
"Hey, I asked you a question! How did you do that?"
"I didn't do anything, besides keeping your ass from getting suspended and arrested. Your welcome."
"That's not what I meant and you know it."
"I didn't-" the bell ran cutting off the next lie that was about to tumble from his mouth. And before I could call him out on it again he quickly walked back the way we came.
As I was walking through the gym doors a loud high pitched squeal over the P.A and a voice announced. "Dorinda Thomas. Please report to the front office. Dorinda Thomas. Report to the front office." I caught the coaches eyes and I'm not sure but I think I saw... disappointment. I huffed out a huge sigh and slammed back through the doors and walked to my new destination.
"He is waiting for you in his office." The lady at the front desk pointed to the door.
I was sat in one of the plush leather chairs in front of the large mahogany desk and he started with, "I thought we had an understanding, and that after what happened at your last school, you agreed that you were going to lay low. Not only did you disturb the rest of the student body, but to add insult to injury you also threatened another student in front of dozens of witnesses. What part of that screams model student, which is what you agreed to be when I took a chance on you and allowed you the privilege to learn at this school." His voice got louder and louder as his rant went on. It lasted the rest of the day.

"What the hell is wrong with you!" He snapped like I didn't you get reamed out for the last few hours. I dropped my bag in the bed of the truck. "Where are you going!"
"Not staying here so you can yell at me that's for sure." Clay grabbed my arm and for what has got to be what felt like the thousandth time this week I was being man handled to do something that I didn't want to do and it is starting to piss me off.
"I know your pissed off at the world, you think everyone is out to get you, and god knows we are all sick of moving. But you need to find a different way to lash out, get it to be more...more controlled or someone will see or lord help us figure it out."
"You think I don't know that! That I don't struggle with it everyday! I'm Trying." The last part comes out as a defeated whisper.
"Yeah well not hard enough." He hissed. His normally handsome face is scarred with a frown and bitter eyes and his nostrils are flared in anger. He stalked towards the direction of the soccer field.
I turn towards the woods that border the school grounds and run. I need to get away. I ran and ran pushing through low hanging branches and over tree root that erected from the ground I ran hard until I stopped thinking about how I screwed up and had to concentrate all my energy on keeping my legs moving and my lungs breathing.
When I do finally stop I slam into a chain link fence and curl my fingers through the holes in frustration. I could feel my eyes fill and squeezed them shut to keep the tears at bay. Panting I slid down to the earth and landed on a patch of grass. I pulled my knees to my chest and leaned the side of my face against my arms and closed my eyes.
