Sleeping

The stars shine the brightest I've ever seen them shine, and the winds blows through the windows and through my hair. I look over to see Haeley staring straight ahead as if knowing where she's going."Do you have a plan or something?" I ask and she just looks at me and ignores me. "Hello?.... Haeley?" She snaps at me, "No I don't have a plan, OK? I just wanted to get out of Jasperville and I know you did too!" She was right I was sick of being pushed around by Dawson Woodlark and having my mother be Lucifer. I guess having time away is better than being stuck their. " Haeley why did you want ME to come with you when you could've asked all of your friends and the guys that drool over you at lunch at school? Why am I so special?" I blurt out, "Well I guess I think that you are the closest thing I have to a friend other than Sarah and if I took her we would have to stop every 5 seconds to check out a shop or something. I guess you are just my BEST friend and I thought you would like to get away from Dawson and Lucifer. " As she says the last line we both crack up laughing. "Huntaah do you have some kind of crush on me or something?" I feel myself blush straight away, do I like her, YES, my mind says but I'm not sure so I just look at her and all I can manage to say is,"Ahh, I don't know..." She just turns and focuses back on the road. "Why?.." I just couldn't hold in the question, "I, I actually don't know where it even came from. Sorry
about that."
"That is her answer" I think.

We travel for another good hour before I start to notice Haeley drifting off to sleep, "Haeley! Pull over I'll drive from here." She jumps at the sound of my voice and pulls over into the parking bay. I unclip my seat belt and make may way to the drivers side of the car and take position of the driver. Haeley gets comfortable in the passenger chair and falls asleep faster then you could say sleep. I once again set us off on our unguided journey to who-knows where, to do who-knows what! I drive for just about, 4 hours before the sun arises and Haeley begins to awaken, I look in the mirror above the windscreen and see that my eyes are bloodshot and have bags under my eyes. I turn to look at Haeley and she snaps out of her beautiful awakening (wait did I say beautiful) as soon as she sees my face, "HUNTAAH WHY DIDNT YOU WAKE ME TO DRIVE! LOOK AT YOU! That's it pull over now I'm driving!!" She's scowls me as she yells at me reminding me of Luc- I mean my mother. "Calm down Lucifer JR you seem to be becoming like me mother." She just points to the servo so that we can get some fuel as well. I nod and head towards that direction.

I pull up into the servo and go to the petrol pump to fill the cars tank up with fuel, "Want something?" Asks Haeley, I shake my head and place the pump where found in the pump holder. I sit in the passenger side of the car waiting for Haeley, she come out of the servo with bags full of water bottles. She smiles as she exits the door and proudly walks to the car and places them on the back seat. She slumps down in to the drivers seat and starts up the car and instructs me to sleep for a while, and I agree due to I think I could pass out at any moment. As I fall asleep the birds chirp and the wind whistles smoothly as Haeley cruises along the winding road. I awake I little later though I don't know how long I have been asleep I turn over to see Haeley watching me as I awaken to the sound of crushing leaves. "How long have I been asleep Haeley?" I ask and she just replies with,"About 5 hours which is good though." I nod and rest my head against the window. "What do you think our parents are doing you know, do you think they are worried?" I ask and Haeley just shrugs her shoulders slumping back further into her chair.
