This time I didn’t get up and go running out the door. I didn’t look away. No. this time I wanted him to kiss me. I felt like this is what is suppose to happen. Just as our lips nearly connected, Mike cleared him throat, he turned to look at us. By the expression on his face, that grin, he was watching for some time. “oh ignore me, pretend I’m not even here.” I heard a low growl rumble in Dylan’s chest. His well defined chest that rested just a few inches above mine. Mike put up his hands in defense and told Dylan, “Hey I’m just here to observe anyway, remember? Now lets see a good smooch.” with a sigh, like it was a chore for him, Dylan looking back at me, closed the gap between our lips. A force of numbing energy surged through my body. My mind went all fuzzy, and all I would feel were his icy lips against mine. There were no sparks, nothing like fireworks but numbing. My body felt limp and the only thing keeping me from falling on to the floor, was him holding me. His hand was holding the back of my head and the other arm, around my waist. Pulling me into him as he raised me to his level. Our kiss deepened. Just as my lips parted, he pulled away, smiling. Mike was clapping, sarcastically.

“Bravo. That was some kiss. He gets it from me you know-” as mike was talking Dylan got up, slowly, but left in a hurry. “Hey where are you going? I’m talking to you.” Mike was going to walk after Dylan, but stopped, looking at me. “You ok?” he sat on the arm of the sofa. I sat up, straightening my dress out. “Yeah, I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?” I said touching my lips. They were still cold form his touch.

“You just seem a bit in awe.”

“I just didn’t expect that, is all…”

“The kiss?”

“Yeah.” but I really didn’t expect the feeling I got.

“you two haven’t kissed much, or show much affection to each other, have you?”

“No.” and we haven’t, we fight a lot

“That surge of energy you got, its normal. Every human who receives a kiss from an immortal gets that felling. Its power.”

“Oh.” so it wasn’t anything special, I didn’t feel it, that spark you feel when you kiss the one you love.

“you felt more though didn’t you. I saw it, you felt something extra.” I looked at him, wide eyed,

“I did, it was numbing, like everything went blank. Nothing existed like, like I don’t know.”

“Like the way love feels? Tell me dear, have you ever loved a man before?”

“no, I didn’t have a dad growing up, he left my mom a long time ago, and every guy I dated I never loved, I mean I liked them but,-’

“But you never loved them. I understand. When a human falls in love with an immortal, they feel power that is mask with their own. You see its complicated. But that love is strong enough to mask the power an immortal has in their kiss, their touch. And nothing is stronger than love my dear, nothing.”

“Wow.. This is all just so-”

“Romantic? The girl finds her prince? The love of her life? Oh its so exciting!”

“I was going to say cheesy, but ok.” Mike was just looking at me,

“My dear, your our story book heroine, saving the beast from self destruction by exiling him self from society and using woman as little puppets.”

“um ok…what?”

“Dylan has never held a woman in his arms, only his next meal.”

“I’m still not getting the point.”
