"What if we get caught?"

"If you're careful then you won't get caught."

"Okay... but what if we do?"

I sighed but gave Phil a reassuring smile.

"Look, I'll stick with you and Chris will stick with PJ. We'll separate them meet each other back at the car at midnight. Don't worry." I said and Phil looked at PJ as if waiting for a sign.

PJ nodded and Phil turned back to me.

"Okay."

I parked the car and we all stepped out.

"Remember, we meet back here at midnight. Don't get too drunk, don't get lost and don't forget to sell." I reminded them and Chris walked away with PJ into the massive house that was throwing a party.

Parties were always the best place to sell. Druggies were always at parties.

"Let's go," I said but Phil didn't move and stared at the house.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I've never been to a party before. What if I get lost?"

I gave him a quite chuckle. "You're not going to get lost. I'm here and I'll look after you," I assured him.

He still appeared to be slightly scared but he nodded and we then made our way into the massive house.

"Okay, so," I yelled over the loud music, "Just talk to people, joke around then offer them stuff but make sure to not be blunt or simple about it! I'll go first, stay beside me."

Phil nodded and I dug my hands in my pockets then walked into the kitchen where smoke was coming from and grabbed a cup off the counter, offered one to Phil who rejected.

I first went up to a small group of people and made a small talk before they asked if I had anything with me. I then brought Phil in and he managed to sell a good amount before I did.

"It'll get easy as time passes," I told Phil as we walked outside. It wasn't exactly midnight but neither of us had any business in there after selling so we had decided to wait in the car for Chris and PJ.

As I opened the car door and sat in the seat, I swiftly took out my phone and saw there was a missed call.

I sighed but didn't bother dialling. There was only ten minutes left till midnight and I'd be home soon.

"Hey, um," Phil cleared his throat and I turned my head to face him, "I know we aren't supposed to ask questions but how long have you been doing this for? You seem to know what you're doing well."

I chuckled. "I've been doing this for nearly two years. Chris brought me to it and it's an easy yet horrible way to get money fast."

He nodded and his gaze fell. His fingers circled around his knee and with his other hand, he picked at his black jeans.

I suddenly wondered what was going through his mind but didn't question him; he would open up about anything if he wanted to just like I would when I want to. Which was most likely never going to happen.

"I know PJ wouldn't appreiate me saying this but I'm sorry about his behaviour. He's very, er, timid. He likes to be serious but once you get to know him, he isn't all that bad. He's just... afraid."

"Aren't we all?" I laughed lightly, lifting my eyes up to the window. "But it's fine, I understand and I'm sure Chris would too. We aren't exactly the brightest either, Chris and I."

"Really? You seem pretty bright to me." Phil said, taking me by surprise.

I managed to laugh it off and shrugged, nothing coming to mind to say next.

Gladly, I didn't have to say anything because then the back door swung open and Chris crawled into the car with PJ, both laughing at God knows what.

"Chris here got us into trouble and we had to run for it," PJ said, catching his breath but Chris only laughed some more.

"You two are getting along well," I laughed and PJ nodded.

"You know what, you guys are so bad," PJ admitted.

"Were we bad at the beginning? Were my flirting skills not working?" Chris teased.

"Ha! Flirting skills? Keep working on that!" PJ snorted.

I glanced at Phil who was smiling widely and laughed as he watched Chris and PJ joke around and yell at each other playfully.

Despite knowing them for only a day, I knew that we were all going to get along well.

I dropped Chris off first, PJ second them went to drop off Phil last.

He continued picking on his jeans, occasionally looking up and opening his mouth slightly but then closing it and faced down again.

"Turn right and it's the third house down," Phil told me when I asked him where to next and I did as told, parking my car.

"We're going out tomorrow again," I informed him and he nodded.

"Thanks for, uh," Phil furrowed his brows in slight confusion, "um, you know."

"You don't have to thank me," I assured him and gave him a smile. "Goodnight, Phil."

"Goodnight, Ma- Dan." Phil stuttered and I couldn't help but notice how he emphasized my name.

My eyes followed him as he slowly walked towards the front door, how his hands shook slightly when he unlocked the door and opened it and how he waved at me.

I blushed and cursed myself, ripping my eyes away from him and driving home.

I pulled into the driveway and turned my car off then sighed. All the lights in the house were on and when I entered, my grandma didn't hesitate to ask me where I was.

"I was working," I said, slipping my bag off my back.

"Daniel, what kind of job makes you stay till midnight working?!" My grandma's usual worried and squeaky tone had no longer bothered me but it did get annoying at times.

"A lot of jobs, Gran. Please accept the fact that I'm working to keep this house and to keep mum. I want to do this and I don't want you to work."

Gran let out a breath. "I just wish you'd let me help."

"You're not in the best shape and I wouldn't want to risk losing you. I'm sorry for keeping you up. Now, go to bed and get some sleep." I told her in a soft tone, placing a kiss on her forehead.

"You're a blessing, Dan. Your mum and dad would be so proud of you." She mumbled. "Goodnight."

I made sure she was in her bed sound asleep before turning off the rest of the lights and making my way to my room.

I changed into a pair of sweats and a worn out shirt and sat on my bed.

Another day down, who knows how much left to go.
