The doctor came out of the operating room with a sad and disappointed expression on his face. And they all knew that he was going to deliver a not-so good news.

"Doctor, how is he? Is he okay?" Elizabeth asked the doctor.

The doctor shook his head, "I'm sorry Mrs. Thompson. He didn't make it." He said then he left. Nikki, Elizabeth and Christina all broke into tears while Nicole just stood there, shocked. She rolled her eyes and let out a desperate sigh as tears started to fall out from her blue eyes. She couldn't stand the situation so she ran away from them.

"Nicole! Nicole!" Trent called out as he ran after her. Jayden secretly followed them.

"Nicole! Stop running away!" Trent yelled and Nicole stopped. He walked towards her and he saw her crying and it broke his heart. He said nothing and just gave her a hug. "It's gonna be okay..." He said. She pushed him away and said, "Please Trent, leave me alone."

"But Nicole..."

"I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"

He was startled when she shouted and then he took a deep breath and nodded. He left and as soon as he left, she broke down into a river of tears as she collapsed on one of the chairs behind her. Jayden went to her and sat beside her.

"I said leave me alone!" She said angrily as she looked up but she was surprised to see Jayden by her side. "Jayden?"

He gave her a lopsided grin and said nothing as he put his arms around her and instantly, she gave in and cried her heart out to him.

"Everything's gonna be okay after this so stop crying." Jayden said firmly to her as he lifted her chin up, meeting each other's eyes. "Jayden... I... I don't understand. I'm already going out with Trent but you're still here for me. Why?" Nicole asked.

"Why? Simple. It's because I love you." He replied with a weak smile. "Even though I know that it's already too late for you to return my feelings... I'd still be here for you. ALWAYS." Then they smiled at each other.

"You know, I just wished that I had told you sooner my feelings for you..." He added as he leaned on his back while looking up at the ceiling, preventing his tears to fall down from his brown eyes. "So that I don't have to feel this pain and regret in me..."

"But Jayden, you already told me your feelings for me. Didn't it help?" She asked.

He shook his head, "No, it didn't. I guess my heart just really wants you to be the other half of it." he said.

"I'm so sorry Jayden..." she said.

"Don't be sorry. You didn't do anything wrong." He said. "I think it's just fair for you to turn your attention to Trent and learn how to love him after what I did... And besides, I knew that you would be happy with him."

She just nodded but deep down in her heart, she's full of doubts and questions.

"Trent, do you know where Nicole is?" Christina asked Trent.

"She's down there. Sitting on a bench." Trent replied.

"You know what, you're her boyfriend. You should be staying with her." She said.

"How did you know about our relationship Mrs. Thompson?"

"It's obvious that the two of you are going out. Just by the looks of your actions towards her, you guys look and act so mushy to each other."

"She said that she wants to be alone so I left her there to give her some space."

Then she laughed, "Oh... Boys." she said. "You guys will never really understand the body language of the girls."

"What do you mean?"

"When a girl tells you to leave her alone, she really doesn't want to be alone. It means that she wants you to stay there for her. She's just testing you to see how much you care for her."

"Oh god..."

"So if I were you, I'd go back to her and stay with her... Trent, I know how much you love Nicole so please don't let go of her."

"I won't Mrs. Thompson. I PROMISE."

Then he turned around and went back to where he left Nicole and as he was approaching her, he saw her together with Jayden and they were talking casually. Anger and jealousy filled his heart when he saw them and he hastily walked to them.

"So is this what you meant of 'LEAVE ME ALONE'?!" He said angrily.

"Trent, let me explain." Jayden said calmly as he stood up.

"I'm not talking to you so shut your piehole." He said to him then his eyes shifted to Nicole. "Nicole, just tell me if you don't need me... If you don't want me anymore then I'll be out of your way, once and for all!"

"Trent... Jayden is my best friend..." She said.

"And so what are you implying? That I can't be your best friend too?!"

"You know what, you are such a greedy asshole!" Jayden said to him, his face red in anger. "You always want Nicole all to yourself! My goodness, Trent! She has her own life! She has her own right to choose the people that she would show her real side!"

"And what do you call yourself? An award-winning best friend?! You know Jayden, you are such a nosy parker! You always want to be involved in everything!"

"It just shows that I care!"

"Do you really care or you're just curious, pretending that you care? Maybe, you are curious when Nicole and I would break up! Well listen Jayden, Nicole and I would never break up because we love each other!"

"Are you sure about that? Because I think she doesn't feel the same way about you anymore! Or maybe, she never did!"

"Jayden, Trent, STOP." Nicole said firmly.

"What did you say?!" Trent asked Jayden angrily.

"Jayden, Trent, STOP! PLEASE! FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD! YOU GUYS AREN'T HELPING!" She said to them. "If you guys wanna fight with each other, then get the hell out of this building and sort out your problems with each other out there!"

The two guys fell silent. She rolled her eyes and walked away from them. She's too tired to deal with them right now. Along the way, she bumped onto Zach.

"Did you see Trentos and Jaydog?" Zach asked her.

"If you're looking for the cat and the dog, just head straight then turn left." Nicole replied with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

"Are you alright?" He asked her.

She sighed, "Whenever Jayden tries to comfort me, Trent always takes it in a wrong way." She said. "Sure, I love both of them. One's my best friend and one's my boyfriend. I don't wanna lose either one of them."

"But you will have to choose between them."

She looked at him, confused.

"You can't have them both at the same time if they're like that to each other... Sometimes, life's all about desicions. Sometimes, you have to decide for yourself." He continued. "Sometimes, you have to lose one of them or even both just to make things easier."

"I... I don't get it." She said.

"Someday you will." He said as he smiled at her then he walked off to find Trent and Jayden.
