ABIGAIL
Waking up before my alarm this morning was bitter sweet since today would be my first day of official college classes.
Am I anxious? Hell yes
I unwrapped myself from my covers, looking over on the other side of the dorm to see my best Cece still asleep. Knowing her she'll be up twenty minutes before our first class starts. I shook my head at her and walked into the bathroom that we'll be sharing for the year. I jumped in the shower; got washed up, then wrapped myself in my towel. Wiping off the steam from the mirror, I looked at my reflection. I've never found myself to be the prettiest girl, not like Cece. She's the all american blonde wavy hair, blue eyed beauty. She's also super athletic which makes her so different from other girls and always peppy.
We have been best friends since we were in diapers and all throughout grade school to high school Cece has always been the pretty one, the one all the guys want and all the girls dream about being while I'm just her nerdy, shy best friend. Sometimes I wonder why she stayed my friend through the years, but she constantly says she adores me so I let it go every so often.
I sighed, then turned on my straightener before putting on a black crop top with my white jeans and black ankle boots then added my favorite purple crop jacket to put on then straightened my hair. I was finally finished and when I walked back into the room from the bathroom Cece was still sprawled out on her bed. I lightly laughed at her hair all over her pillow, taking a look at the clock on my nightstand. I still had time to eat something, so I grabbed my phone, my bag and quietly walked out of the room.
Humming down the stairs and out into the nice crisp September breeze it was pretty nice. I decided I would go to the local doughnut shop across the street from campus and pick me up a nice maple doughnut and a caramel frappe. When I walked inside there was a long line of people getting the caffeine to start the first day jitters of a new school semester. As I waited for my turn in line, I wondered if I should get Cece something too. By the time it was my turn I order my stuff and also ordered a vanilla frappe and glazed doughnut for Cece.
I still had enough time to walk around the campus for a minute before making my way to Physics as my first class for the day and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the rest of the semester. William University was founded back in the early 1900s with one of the most grand campuses in Washington State. When Cece and I toured here last year I never could get over how green everything was and the buildings of dark rust color red popped out from the green
I was walking through the courtyard that held a grand fountain in the center and benches scattered all around the area, I couldn't help but love the view of everything until I heard a squeal; one that I'm way too familiar with and when I turned around to see Cece speed walking through the courtyard towards me. Everyone that was standing around was staring at her as she made her way up to me.
"OH MY GOD" she squealed again causing more people to stare
I started turning red out of embarrassment. I hate attention from people "Cece, stop yelling you're causing a scene" I said handing her the bag and drink "Here, I got you a doughnut"
"You are the best Abby" Taking a drink from her frappe "I'm sorry, I just can't help it. I'm so excited"
I shook my head at her and laughed "I know, me too, a bit nervous too"
"You? Nervous? You'll be fantastic, you're one of the smartest girls ever"
I scoffed "Yea maybe high school smart, but this is college, a totally different territory"
