The lunch bell rang, and I didn't feel like eating Cold school food; So I got in my car, along with my sister and drove to a Chinese buffet.
The light turned red, so while we stopped, I looked in the mirror and dabbed on some gloss.
"I'm so hungry." Sydney whined.
"Me too, but I'm not complaining." I added.
It was a five minute drive from the school. I was just hoping that we wouldn't get stuck in traffic.
We finally made it, and we couldn't help but just head straight to the buffet. I loaded my plate till it was overflowing with food. Being a teenager who just got done with gym, I was starving.
"Do you always eat like that?" My heart dropped as the familiar voice went through my ears.
I slowly looked up to see Zach. "If you just got out of gym, yes." I smiled.
"No need to defend yourself sweetness." He smirked. "You mind if I sit with you?"
"Not at all." I grinned.
"Okay, great. Just let me grab a plate." He said as he walked towards the buffet. I sat down at the table, and asked Sydney how I looked. Of course she didn't answer me, she was taking selfies with her food. For someone who was so hungry, she had the time for selfies.
"All I need is a glance." I whispered.
She giggled and looked at me, "You look hot, why are you asking? Is Isaac here?" She searched the room for him.
"No," I grinned, "One of my other friends are here."
"Is it a guy?"
I just nodded. I didn't want to actually admit it. She knew I liked Isaac, but knew that we weren't together. It was complicated.
"Is he cute? How old? Can I have him?"
"Calm down." I said as I nudged her with my foot. We looked up and Zach took a seat across from me, but next to Sydney.
"Hi." Syd said with a smirk.
He giggled, "Hey Short Round."
She blushed as she looked down at her food. Finally she ate. Zach looked at me and gave me a smirk as he picked up his fork, and took a bite of his fried rice. "How've you been? I haven't seen you since Sing for Spring."
"You saw me?" I asked confused. If he saw me, then why didn't he talk to me?
He grinned, "Oh yeah, I saw you drooling over me when you stood by the bathroom waiting on your friend, and I saw you sing, and I watched you walk around with some nerdy kid."
"Ok, one.. I was not drooling over you. I just happened to see you, and I didn't know who you were, so you came off as a mystery; and that intrigued me." I took a bite of my food, "And, second.. that nerd is Isaac, and he's a sweetheart."
"Is he your boyfriend?" He asked as he took another bite.
"What? No." I said really fast.
He raised an eyebrow, "But you like him."
"I think he's very nice and attractive... but none of this is your concern." I said sternly.
As he nodded his cute dirty brown hair flopped. "You're cute when you're feisty."
"Why are you flirting with me?" I asked confused. "You don't even know me, you rarely ever show up to school, and you talk to every girl that has an ass or boobs."
"I think you just answered your own question." He smirked along with a charming giggle.
My jaw dropped, "What the fu-"
His laughter made me stop talking. "I'm kidding!" He laughed. "You're mysterious, and intrigue me."
"You can't use my line." I smiled.
Zach giggled and looked over at Syd, "You know her?"
"She's my sister." She rolled her eyes.
I giggled, "Thank you for being sympathetic."
"Its what I do." She smiled and took a bite of her sushi.
I looked back at Zach, his green eyes locked onto mine. We didn't say anything, we just sat there, looking at each other. Zach squinted his eyes, which enhanced the color; giving me goosebumps. I looked away. "I knew it." He said as he smirked.
"Knew what?"
"That you like me." He gave me a big grin, and bit into his eggroll.
I laughed, "Why would you think I like you?"
"I don't think, I know." He smirked. By now I was used to it.
"That's right, you don't think. Since you don't think, you will never know." I quickly threw it back at him.
"Ouch! Somebody get me some ice, because that burned!" Sydney added to my remark and looked at Zach.
He laughed, "That was a good one, but I'll know what I know, and I know that you have feelings for me, and soon you're gonna be like me."
"What does that mean?" I questioned him.
He smirked and stood up, "Thank you doll for sharing your table with me. You cover the tip?" He came over to me and pecked my cheek, "Its about time to head back to school." He walked over to the counter, and then left.
For some reason I lost my appetite. Was I having feelings for him? Yeah, I thought he was cute, but after Riley told me about him, I didn't want to get involved. Especially now that I've got something with Isaac.
I did cover the tip, just as he told me to. Just as I was about to pay a good amount for a three person buffet, the lady at the counter told me this, "No, you don't pay. Young handsome man pay for all three."
What? I was utterly confused. Why? I was being a total snob to him, yet he paid for our meal?
His last couple of words stuck in my mind the rest of the day. "Soon you're gonna be like me." What did he mean by that? Was he being serious? Zach really made me question things. That's what made him mysterious.
"I like him, can I have him?" Sydney's voice snapped me out of my trance.
"No."
She sighed, "Ugh, how come you get all the guys?" She whined. "Like, share!"
"No." I rolled my eyes, "He's too old for you."
"He's to old for you too!" She complained. "What do you think mom and dad would say about him?" Her gasp scared me, "What would Isaac think about him?"
I looked over at her, "Syd, You will tell neither of them about Zach! He's just my friend... Well, I technically don't know what he is!" My voice grew stern. I didn't mean to get onto Syd, she just knew how to get on my nerves.
"I'm sorry." She said looking out the window.
"Its okay." I give her a reassuring smile, "He's not too old for you. You're only a year younger than I am, so I guess that you could have a shot with either of them. But just let me find out some things before you start liking anyone."
She smiled. I got us to school, and turns out Zach stayed for the whole day. I had many classes with him. He didn't say much, nor participate. He sat in the back of the class, with his ear-buds in, drumming on his desk with his fingers. I'm gonna go and say it... I think he's a bad boy.
